20180010488 · 2018-01-11 · ·

The present invention can achieve a variable valve mechanism having a simple and compact configuration. A variable valve mechanism changes an opening/closing timing of an intake valve or an exhaust valve in response to an engine rotation speed. The variable valve mechanism includes: a cam sprocket which rotates in response to a rotation of a crank shaft; an intake cam shaft which is integrated with an intake cam; an exhaust cam shaft which is integrated with an exhaust cam; and a governor flange that transmits a rotation of the cam sprocket to the intake cam shaft and the exhaust cam shaft. The intake cam shaft and the exhaust cam shaft are formed so that the other cam shaft is inserted through one cam shaft to be relatively rotatable. The governor flange is provided to rotate along with the intake cam shaft and rotates relative to the cam sprocket under a predetermined condition.

A valve timing adjustment device includes: a housing member; a vane rotor that includes vanes and is securely coupled to a driven shaft and is rotatable relative to the housing member when the vane rotor receives a pressure of hydraulic oil introduced into hydraulic chambers; a fixing member that fixes the vane rotor to the driven shaft; and a bearing section that rotatably supports the housing member. The housing member includes a winding section that is formed at an outer peripheral surface of the housing member. A transmission member is wound around the winding section. The bearing section and the winding section at least partially overlap with each other when viewed in a direction perpendicular to an axial direction.

A radial engine-generator includes an electric power generator and a radial engine. The radial engine-generator can be a mobile and portable unit, and is employable as a primary or back-up source of electric power at data centers, manufacturing facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, medical facilities, telecommunications, and residential neighborhoods, among many other applications. The electric power generator and radial engine are coupled together. The radial engine includes, among other components, multiple cylinders, multiple cylinder heads, and multiple overhead camshaft assemblies. The overhead camshaft assemblies are located at the cylinder heads and each include one or more camshafts. The camshaft(s) receive rotational drive input from a crankshaft of the radial engine. In certain implementations, camshaft carrier assemblies can be provided to support components of the overhead camshaft assemblies.

Valve train with cylinder deactivation and compression release

An internal combustion engine system includes an engine with a plurality of pistons housed in respective ones of a plurality of cylinders, an air intake system to provide air to the plurality of cylinders through respective ones of a plurality of intake valves, an exhaust system to release exhaust gas from the plurality of cylinders through respective one of a plurality of exhaust valves. A valve train is provided for cylinder deactivation of a first part of the plurality of cylinders and compression release braking on a second part of the plurality of cylinders.

Recirculating hydraulic fluid control valve

A hydraulic fluid control valve (HFCV) configured to recirculate an exiting hydraulic fluid from a first hydraulic actuation chamber to a second hydraulic actuation chamber is provided. The HFCV includes a spring well that combines a hydraulic fluid received from a hydraulic fluid pressure source with a recirculated hydraulic fluid from the first hydraulic actuation chamber and delivers the combination to the second hydraulic actuation chamber.

Internal combustion engine

In an internal combustion engine that includes a cylinder block and a cylinder head, and has a cam chain chamber on a side of the cylinder block, a beam member that traverses the cam chain chamber is disposed in the cam chain chamber.

System and method for mitigating cylinder deactivation degradation

Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves are presented. In one example, valves of a cylinder are deactivated in a closed state in response to an indication of degradation of a valve of the cylinder. Further, fuel flow to the cylinder may be stopped via ceasing to inject fuel to the cylinder.
