Systems and methods for variable displacement engine oil flow
Methods and systems are provided for oil flow for a variable displacement engine of a vehicle. In one example, a system may include an engine having a plurality of deactivatable cylinders capped by a cylinder head, an oil supply passage formed in the cylinder head and joined to a first oil inlet, deactivatable hydraulic lash adjusters (HLAs) arranged along a flow path of the oil supply passage, and a primer filter disposed within the cylinder head and fluidly coupling the oil supply passage to a second oil inlet. Oil may flow through the primer filter to the oil supply passage to maintain a flow rate of oil through the oil supply passage above a pre-determined flow rate.
QUICK OIL RETURN CYLINDER LINER
A quick return oil cylinder liner is disclosed. The cylinder liner includes an elongated cylindrical body having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a liner central axis extending between a first liner axial end and a second liner axial end. The inner surface is configured to form a combustion chamber with a piston and an engine housing. A quick oil return part is arranged on the inner surface of the cylinder liner corresponding to a non-skirt part of the piston. The oil return part is positioned below a position of the inner surface corresponding to an oil blade of an oil ring of the piston when the piston is positioned at a bottom dead center position. The oil return part extends to the second linear axial end and forms at opening at the second liner axial end.
SYNTHETIC RESIN JOINED BODY AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
There are provided a synthetic resin joined body and a method of manufacturing the same, with which it is possible to secure both of sealing performance of a fluid passage and joint strength between synthetic resin parts, even if an area of a portion to be welded is reduced. The synthetic resin joined body includes: a baffle plate; an oil passage forming member which comes in contact with the baffle plate; an oil passage which is formed between the baffle plate and the oil passage forming member and through which lubricant flows; a sealing portion which is formed by welding the baffle plate and the oil passage forming member to each other on an outer side of the oil passage to seal a periphery of the oil passage; and a joint portion for joining the baffle plate and the oil passage forming member to each other.
Light composite crosshead
A system, in certain embodiments, includes a composite crosshead. The composite crosshead comprises a crosshead body made of a first composite material, wherein the first composite material comprises a first reinforcing material distributed in a first matrix material, wherein the composite crosshead is configured to move in a reciprocating motion in a machine.
Cylinder block with integrated oil jacket
An engine block, an engine sub-assembly, and method for providing and manufacturing an engine block. The engine block includes a plurality of cylinder barrels positioned in the engine block, at least one oil jacket channel formed in the engine block, and an oil inlet port positioned in a peripheral wall of the engine block and connected to the at least one oil jacket channel. The at least one oil jacket channel includes a plurality of curved channel sections. Each curved channel section in the plurality of curved channel sections extends about at least a portion of a circumferential portion of a respective cylinder barrel in the plurality of cylinder barrels. The at least one oil jacket channel extends between adjacent cylinder barrels of the plurality of cylinder barrels in the engine block.
Lubrication fluid filter bypass system
An internal combustion engine includes an engine lubrication fluid system with a main rifle for distribution of filtered lubrication fluid to a plurality of engine components through a plurality of secondary rifles connected to the main rifle. The system also includes a bypass for bypassing the filter in response to certain engine operating conditions. The bypass is connected to at least one of the secondary rifles so that unfiltered lubrication fluid is not provided to certain engine components under filter bypass conditions, and provided directly to certain other engine components for which unfiltered lubrication fluid is less problematic.
Distribution device for distributing fluid flows and method for operating a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine
A distribution device for distributing fluid flows, having a main passage and having a multiplicity of discharge passages branching off from the main passage, wherein the distribution device is designed to distribute a fluid flow entering the main passage among the discharge passages. An inner passage is arranged inside the main passage, wherein the inner passage is designed to conduct fluid that enters the inner passage to at least one of the discharge passages, and wherein the distribution device has a shutoff device for shutting off a fluid flow entering the inner passage from the main passage.
Reciprocating machine with cylinder having collector groove
A reciprocating machine incltides a cylinder including an internal cylinder wail, a piston movable in the cylinder between a top position and a. bottom position, the piston, comprising an upper ring pack and a lower ring pack disposed around a circumference of the piston and spaced from each other by a first distance, and a circumferential collector groove in the cylinder wall in a position that is above the lower ring pack when the piston is in the top position and that is below the upper ring pack when the piston is in the bottom position, the collector groove including at least” one hole eonneciabie to a conduit for comieciion to a sump.
