20210348529 · 2021-11-11 · ·

The disclosure relates to a method and a device for checking the functionality of a crankcase ventilation system of an internal combustion engine. The crankcase ventilation system includes two crankcase ventilation lines arranged between a crankcase outlet of a crankcase and an associated introduction point into an air path of the internal combustion engine, via which crankcase ventilation lines gas can be introduced from the crankcase into the air path. The method includes measuring a pressure in the crankcase, supplying the measured pressure values to a control unit, and calculating the gradient of the measured pressure. The method also includes performing a gradient check, checking whether the gradient satisfies a specified criterion, and returning to the measurement of the pressure if the gradient satisfies the specified criterion. The method also includes recording an entry in a fault memory if the gradient does not satisfy the specified criterion.

Positive crankcase ventilation system

A positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system includes: an oil separator separating oil from blow-by gases; a PCV valve allowing the blow-by gases from which the oil has been separated by the oil separator to flow into intake ports of a cylinder head; a PCV passage vertically extending from the PCV valve; a PCV chamber connected to the PCV passage; and a plurality of bypass passages branching off from the PCV chamber to the intake ports, respectively.

Filter element, oil separator, and method for controlling prevailing pressure in crankcase ventilation system

The invention describes a filter element for an oil separator of a crankcase ventilation system in which a filter element is configured to separate oil from fluid and that has a covering surface extending parallel to a direction of flow, together with at least one cover element covering surface in at least some regions. An oil separator is taught having the filter element with at least one pressure control valve controlling crankcase pressure and has a valve closing body that operates in conjunction with a valve seat.

An oil mist filter includes: a filter body having a tubular shape, the filter body causing processing-target gas supplied to a hollow in the filter body pass through an outer peripheral surface to capture oil mist contained in the processing-target gas; and an end plate disposed at one end surface of the filter body the end plate projecting outward beyond an outer peripheral edge of the one end surface of the filter body. A plurality of ventholes are formed at a portion of the end plate projecting beyond the outer peripheral edge of the one end surface of the filter body. The processing-target gas blown out from the outer peripheral surface of the filter body passes through the ventholes.

A valve, an oil separator, and a ventilation system are described. These are used particularly in internal combustion engines, for example for separating oil mist or oil droplets from blow-by gases (crankcase gases). In particular a valve which can be used for example as a bypass valve in a ventilation system is described.
