Oil pan

The invention relates to an oil sump (1) comprising a lower shell (2) intended for containing lubricating oil of an engine, in which a flow of oil, referred to as suction oil flow (I), is sucked up via a suction tube (44) to supply a lubricating circuit, and an oil flow, referred to as returning oil flow (II), falls into the oil sump (1). The oil sump (1) comprises an anti-emulsion plate (8) arranged located at the mouth of the suction tube (44) during a transitional period in which the temperature of the oil is lower than an optimal operating temperature.

A component for a motor vehicle, with at least one receiving space for structural elements of the drive component, with at least one first wall that delimits the receiving space at least partially, by way of which at least one collecting region for collecting a lubricant for lubricating the structural elements is delimited at least partially, and with at least one second wall, which is arranged on a side of the first wall that faces away from the collecting region, and which is spaced apart from the first wall at least in a partial region, so that, between the walls, an intermediate space that is delimited at least partially by the walls is formed. For setting a heat transfer coefficient between the walls, a liquid can be introduced into the intermediate space and discharged out of the intermediate space.

Method and assembly for heating an engine fluid

An exemplary fluid heating method includes, among other things, operating an engine of a vehicle to heat an engine fluid during a drive cycle if the vehicle is in a fluid maintenance mode, and heating the fluid prior to the drive cycle if the vehicle is in the fluid maintenance mode and the vehicle is electrically coupled to a grid power source. An exemplary fluid heating assembly includes, among other things, an engine of an electrified vehicle, and a fluid heater that is activated to heat a fluid of the engine in response to the electrified vehicle being in a fluid maintenance mode when electrically coupled to a grid power source.

Device for preventing dilution of engine oil

A device for preventing dilution of engine oil includes an oil pan in which oil for lubrication of the engine is recovered with fuel. An exhaust purifier is provided on a rear end of the engine and purifying exhaust gas. A gas passage can guide flow of exhaust gas passing through the exhaust purifier to the oil pan. A gas valve can control flow rate of the exhaust gas flowing in the gas passage. A controller controls an opening ratio of the gas valve depending on a temperature of oil inside the oil pan to maintain the temperature of the oil equal to or higher than a temperature at which the fuel in the oil pan is vaporized.

Unit for storing thermal energy

A unit for storing and releasing thermal energy including a plurality of blocks each having a body the lateral walls of which delimit a chamber suited to receiving storage and release elements of PCM type, to be placed in heat exchange relationship with a refrigerating or heat-transfer fluid circulating between the chambers via passages; and elements for the thermal management of the chambers arranged around said chambers and at least some of which include a thermally insulating material and others a PCM.

Engine oil warm up using inductive heating

Methods and systems are provided for preemptively heating engine oil prior to an engine start using an inductive heating mat. In one example, a method may include coupling a magnetic field between a primary coil housed in the inductive heating mat and a ferrous oil pan to inductively heat engine oil contained in the oil pan. While maintaining engine oil temperature above a threshold temperature, heated engine oil may then be circulated through engine components to warm up the engine prior to engine start.
