Device for controlling exhaust sound of vehicle
A device for controlling an exhaust sound of a vehicle includes a sound tunnel mounted near a muffler and an exhaust pipe so as to transmit exhaust sound to an interior of a vehicle, a sound introduction hole formed in the sound tunnel, and a catalytic assembly mounted in the sound tunnel so as to clog the sound introduction hole, the catalytic assembly functioning to reduce high-frequency noise and to filter exhaust gas, thereby reducing high-frequency noise included in the exhaust sound transmitted to the interior of the vehicle and thereby filtering the exhaust gas so as to prevent introduction of the exhaust gas into the interior of the vehicle.
Adjustable exhaust backpressure device
The adjustable exhaust backpressure device allows for post-installation adjustment of additional backpressure. This allows a user to adjust how much backpressure is generated by testing, adjusting, and then re-testing. The adjustment can generally be performed without removing the device from the exhaust, and without replacing any parts. The adjustable exhaust backpressure device can be placed in any location following the engine. The adjustable exhaust backpressure device includes a body with an exhaust inlet and an exhaust outlet.
Vehicle sound attenuation
Vehicle sound attenuation systems and methods are provided herein. An example method includes determining a triggering event for a vehicle using an advanced driver assisted technology system, and controlling a sound enhancing system of the vehicle in response to the triggering event. Controlling the sound enhancing system may include attenuating engine or exhaust sound produced by the sound enhancing system of the vehicle.
Valve assembly for exhaust system
A valve assembly for an exhaust system of a vehicle comprises a housing defining an inlet, an outlet, and a longitudinally extending exhaust gas passageway in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The valve assembly further comprises a valve flap disposed in the housing and rotatable between a first position restricting exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway is less restricted. A mass damper is disposed within the exhaust gas passageway and attached to the valve flap. The mass damper includes end portions and an intermediate portion disposed between the end portions with the intermediate portion having a thickness that is greater than a thickness of the end portions. The mass damper is positioned proximate an inner surface of the housing and positioned between the valve flap and the housing when the valve flap is at the second position.
Valve mounting structure
A valve mounting structure includes a mounting portion, a valve, and a cushion. The valve includes a valve seat having a cylindrical joining portion that receives the mounting portion inserted thereto, or is inserted to the mounting portion. The cushion is arranged between the mounting portion and the joining portion, and fixed to each of the mounting portion and the joining portion. In a case where one of the mounting portion and the joining portion is a first portion and the other is a second portion, the first portion includes a peripheral wall and an opening portion without the peripheral wall formed therein. A fixing portion in which the second portion and the cushion are fixed to each other is at least partly arranged at a position adjacent to the opening portion along a radial direction of the mounting portion.
EXHAUST SILENCING DEVICE AND SYSTEM, VEHICLE, AND EXHAUST SILENCING METHOD
An exhaust silencing device and system, a vehicle, and an exhaust silencing method. The exhaust silencing device comprises an air intake pipe (1), a main exhaust silencing cylinder (2), a main exhaust pipe (3), a multi-way valve (6), at least one auxiliary exhaust silencing device (4), and at least one auxiliary exhaust pipe (5); the multi-way valve (6) is in communication with the air intake pipe (1), the main exhaust pipe (3), and the auxiliary exhaust pipe (5); the main exhaust silencing cylinder (2) has one end in communication with the multi-way valve (6) by means of the main exhaust pipe (3), and another end in communication with the outside; and the auxiliary exhaust silencing device (4) has one end in communication with the multi-way valve (6) by means of the auxiliary exhaust pipe (5), and another end in communication with the outside.
Valve assembly for vehicle exhaust system
A valve assembly for a vehicle exhaust system includes an exhaust component body defining an exhaust gas flow path and a flap mounted to pivot in the exhaust gas flow path between a minimum flow position and a maximum flow position. At least one bushing supports the flap for rotational movement relative to the exhaust component body about an axis. In one example, a damper is positioned radially between the bushing and the flap and defines an inner diameter that is smaller than an outer diameter of the bushing. In another example, a damper is attached to the flap such that a distal edge is free from attachment to a distal edge of the flap such that as the flap returns to the minimum flow position the damper first contacts the exhaust component body and then the flap contacts the damper.
Condensed water drainage device and exhaust system of a vehicle having the same
A condensed water drainage device of an exhaust system includes a casing having an inlet on a first side thereof and an outlet on a second side thereof and a deformable member coupled to the first side of the casing and configured to elastically and extendably deform. The drainage device includes a condensed water drainage member coupled to the deformable member to extend the deformable member by pressure of an exhaust gas introduced to the deformable member and having a condensed water drainage hole communicating with the outlet. The drainage device includes a stopper coupled to the second side of the casing to limit movement of the condensed water drainage member and to open or close the condensed water drainage hole according to extension or contraction of the deformable member.
Exhaust system for an internal combustion engine
An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine and having at least an exhaust duct, which originates from the internal combustion engine and has an end part, which ends with an outlet opening, through which exhaust gases are released into the atmosphere. The end part of the exhaust duct has at least one movable wall, which can be moved to different positions to vary the width of the outlet opening. There are provided a motor-driven actuator device, which is configured to move the movable wall and can be electronically controlled, and a control unit, which is configured to vary, by controlling the actuator device, the position of the movable wall depending on a rotation speed of the internal combustion engine and on an engine load of the internal combustion engine.
AFTER-MARKET REPLACEMENT KIT TO TEMPORARILY BYPASS A VEHICLE'S MUFFLER SILENCER RESONATORS TO IMPROVE EXHAUST SOUND, PERFORMANCE, FUEL ECONOMY AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
A replacement kit enables a user to generate a desired audible sound from an exhaust system of a motor vehicle. The kit includes a replacement catalytic converter arranged to replace the vehicle's original equipment catalytic converter. The replacement catalytic converter is connected to the vehicle's factory muffler through a replacement pipe segment to obtain a more desirable, yet muffled engine sound. The factory muffler may be removed from the motor vehicle and the replacement catalytic converter may instead be connected to a muffler bypass pipe or pipes or replacement exhaust components/segments which channels the exhaust flow directly to the atmosphere to obtain a more powerful unmuffled exciting visceral sports car engine sound.
