Controller and control method for hybrid vehicle
A controller for a hybrid vehicle controls an electric motor such that a motor torque is input to a crankshaft in order to compensate for a decrease in an engine torque when a cylinder deactivation control is executed, the decrease resulting from suspension of combustion in one or some of cylinders. The controller calculates an engine torque calculated value using an engine rotation speed, a motor rotation speed, and the motor torque. The controller diagnoses that the cylinder deactivation control is functioning normally when the engine torque calculated value is less than a torque determination value and diagnose that the cylinder deactivation control is not functioning normally when the engine torque calculated value is not less than the torque determination value during the execution of the cylinder deactivation control.
Aftertreatment system with gas sensor downstream of a heater
An aftertreatment system for treating constituents of an exhaust gas produced by an engine includes a heater configured to selectively heat the exhaust gas entering the aftertreatment system. An aftertreatment component is disposed downstream of the heater. A gas sensor is disposed downstream of the heater and upstream of the aftertreatment component. The gas sensor comprises a sensing element, and a heating element configured to selectively heat the sensing element to an operating temperature of the sensing element.
Exhaust Gas Cleaning Component For Cleaning The Exhaust Gases Of An Internal Combustion Engine
An exhaust gas cleaning component, having a housing with an inflow port and an outflow port, a first honeycomb structure in the housing with a casing, the casing having an outer surface over which exhaust gas can flow, and also having an applicator device by which an exhaust gas cleaning additive can be applied to the outer surface of the casing.
METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR THE DETECTION OF MISFIRE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A method and system are provided with which it is possible to detect non-firing and untimely firing events in internal combustion and, if necessary, the temperature of the gas in the exhaust gas pipe. This is performed in general by measuring the speed of sound and determining the phase angle between the sender and receiver either arranged on different sides of the exhaust gas pipe or on the same side of the exhaust gas pipe. The receiver, depending on the measurement principle, can include one, two, or in special applications three receivers. Additionally, if necessary, it is possible to suppress the structure-borne sound influence on a speed of sound measurement with low cost and high stability.
Exhaust gas processing device
In an exhaust gas processing device, an air-fuel ratio sensor is provided such that a measuring portion is located in a region surrounded by a downstream-side end surface of a TWC, an upstream-side end surface of a GPF, and an inner wall surface of a case against which the exhaust gas G that has passed through the TWC flows, that is the region a region on the GPF side of the center of the TWC.
EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT DEVICE HAVING INTEGRATED GAS SAMPLING SENSOR
An exhaust gas treatment device includes a housing having a wall. The wall of the housing defines an interior chamber. A substrate is supported by the housing within the interior chamber of the housing. The substrate extends along a longitudinal axis. The substrate includes a flow through structure that allows the flow of exhaust gas to flow through the substrate. The substrate includes a catalytic composition disposed thereon for reacting with the flow of exhaust gas. The substrate includes a cavity, extending along a cavity axis, which is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the substrate. A sensor is attached to the housing. The sensor includes a probe that at least partially extends into the cavity of the substrate, for sensing a gaseous component in the flow of exhaust gas. The cavity mixes the flow of exhaust gas and directs the exhaust gas toward the probe of the sensor.
MUFFLER COMPRISING ONE OR MORE SENSOR PORTS
A sealing assembly for a sensor port of a double-walled muffler. The assembly includes at least an outer plate and a washer-type element. The washer-type element has a planar portion provided with an aperture, and a tube portion protrudes from an edge of the aperture. The assembly is mounted on a sensor port provided with a boss fixed to an inner wall of the double muffler wall, and with an opening in an outer wall surrounding the boss. The tube portion is fitted over the boss, and the assembly is fixed to the outer wall. Any radial or lateral movement of the boss relative to the outer wall is able to take place without losing sealing function, due to lateral freedom of movement of the washer-type element relative to the outer plate, and due to the fact that the boss is able to move relative to the tube portion.
CONTROLLING NOx EMISSION CONTROL DURING START OF A VEHICLE
A method for NOx emission control during start of a vehicle comprising an exhaust aftertreatment system, an engine, and a NOx sensor is provided. The method includes determining a temperature of the NOx sensor; if the determined temperature of the NOx sensor is below a predetermined threshold, initiating heating of the NOx sensor, and performing a preventive action for delaying engine start until a determined temperature of the NOx sensor exceeds or is equal to the predetermined threshold.
EXHAUST RESTRICTION DEVICE FOR IMPROVED SENSOR SIGNAL
An engine exhaust system includes a catalytic converter, an exhaust conduit connected upstream of the catalytic converter, and an oxygen sensor extending into the exhaust conduit at a first axial position of the exhaust conduit. A valve is located within the exhaust conduit at the first axial position. The valve includes a movable throttle plate having a bypass notch formed on a periphery of the plate. The valve has an open position, and a closed position in which the bypass notch is placed adjacent to the oxygen sensor to guide exhaust over the oxygen sensor.
Gas sensor set and method of measuring concentrations of a plurality of target components within a gas to be measured
A first gas sensor having a first sensor element includes a first protective cover that protects the first sensor element, and a second gas sensor having a second sensor element includes a second protective cover that protects the second sensor element. The first protective cover is coated with an oxidation catalyst for one target component from among a plurality of target components, and the second protective cover is coated with an inert catalyst for the one target component.
