The muffler has an end wall on each axial end region of the peripheral wall and a muffler insert, surrounded by the peripheral wall and supported on the peripheral wall. A retaining wall extends substantially in the direction of the longitudinal housing axis and a first exhaust-gas routing pipe is positioned with a first end region engaging in an opening in the peripheral wall and is secured to the peripheral wall and retained with a second end region on the retaining wall. The first exhaust-gas routing pipe is retained in its second end region on the retaining wall by force closure or interlocking.

An after treatment system (ATS) module for a vehicle includes, fluidly connected in series, an inlet, a plurality of chemical reaction modules and an urea mixer module. The chemical reaction modules are arranged to define a substantial quadrangular path of a flow of exhaust gases flowing in the ATS module. The urea mixer module is perpendicular to all the plurality of chemical reaction modules. The ATS module also includes deflector means configured to impart a swirling motion to the flow before flow enters in urea mixer module.

The catalyst module is designed for use in an emission control system of an industrial scale combustion system. It comprises a stack frame, in which several mounting units, especially element boxes are inserted. Each of these is provided with several catalysts. A louver and baffle assembly is mounted within an interior of the muffler shell body. The first end of the muffler shell body includes a first shell bead/ridge and the second end of the muffler shell body includes a second shell bead/ridge, and each of the circumferential edges of the first muffler end cap and the second muffler end cap are formed to define cap bead/ridges shaped and dimensioned for engagement with the first shell bead/ridge of the first end of the muffler shell body and the second shell bead/ridge of the second end of the muffler shell body.

At least one of the first partition wall, the second partition wall, and the connecting wall includes at least one perforated area (15). The connecting wall (13) is formed in one piece with the first partition wall (11) and the second partition wall (12). The first plane encloses with the second plane an angle of not more than 60°, the first plane and the second plane being particularly in parallel. A silencer is provided including a housing (1) receiving the silencer insert (10). A method is provided for manufacturing the silencer insert.

Method for producing an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device

A method for producing an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device inserts a monolith in a housing, assembled from a circumferentially enclosed jacket and two end funnels. The monolith is axially inserted into the jacket with a circumferentially enclosing support mat. The funnels are connected to the jacket via an axial connecting section shaped complementary to the cross-section of the jacket, such that each connecting section and an axial end section of the support mat axially overlap. The jacket, including the connecting sections of the funnels are reduced from a starting cross-section to an end cross-section. This produces a predetermined radial preload in the support mat in a support area extending from the one connecting section to the other connecting section to retain the monolith in the jacket.
