Honeycomb body with connection-free region, exhaust-gas purification unit and motor vehicle

A honeycomb body includes at least a housing and a honeycomb structure having a plurality of channels. The honeycomb structure is formed of at least one at least partially structured metallic layer that forms connecting points fixing the honeycomb structure. At most 20% of inner contact points in a cross section of the honeycomb structure form a connection point, and the connection points are disposed at a distance from each other in such a way that respective connection-free regions of the same size surround each of the connection points. An exhaust-gas purification unit and a motor vehicle are also provided.

Electrically heatable heating disk

An electrically heatable heating disk for use within a device for the aftertreatment of exhaust gas, wherein the heating disk is formed by a layer stack formed from a multiplicity of metal foils which are stacked one on top of the other, the layer stack being wound to form a honeycomb body, wherein the layer stack has alternately arranged, coarsely structured metal foils and finely structured or smooth metal foils, and wherein the honeycomb body has at least one electrical contact at a radial edge region, wherein first metal foils terminate with an offset with respect to one another as a result of the winding in the circumferential direction of the heating disk, wherein finely structured or smooth second metal foils which extend in the circumferential direction extend beyond the respective ends of the terminating first metal foils in the circumferential direction.

Catalytic converter and method for the production thereof

A catalytic converter for exhaust gas aftertreatment, with a matrix and a casing, the matrix is formed from a coiled layered stack of metal sheets and is inserted into the casing and bonded thereto only in portions and a method for producing a catalytic converter.

A catalytic support for catalysis processes including a main body, at least one conduit made in said main body, said conduit having an inlet portion made on a first surface of said main body and an outlet portion made on a second surface of said main body, said first surface being opposite said second surface said main body includes a plurality of layers at least partially superposed and mutually adherent, said layers forming a plurality of recesses at the intersections and superposition of said layers, said recesses being configured to house particles of at least one catalyst element.

Catalytic converter substrates comprising triply periodic minimal surfaces

Described herein are catalytic converter substrates or cores based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) geometries, along with methods of making and using the same.

Method for producing a honeycomb body

A method for producing a honeycomb body for a catalytic converter for treating exhaust gases, the honeycomb body having a plurality of flow ducts, through which gas flows from an inlet end to an outlet end. The honeycomb body is formed from a plurality of metal layers lying one on top of the other. The honeycomb body is produced by forming corrugated sections in a metal strip, wherein the corrugated sections follow one another directly or are spaced apart by smooth sections, creating a pre-bend of the metal strip in the end region of each section, folding the individual sections of the metal strip onto one another to create a layer stack, wherein the individual sections are alternately folded onto one another in opposite directions, inserting the layer stack in a housing, and joining the layer stack to the housing in contact regions between the layer stack and the housing.

Method for producing a honeycomb structure

A method for producing a honeycomb structure having at least one at least partially structured metal foil, such that, in subregions of the honeycomb structure, a portion of the at least one metal foil is arranged spaced apart from an adjacently arranged portion of the at least one metal foil so as to be electrically insulated by an air gap therebetween, includes: providing the at least one metal foil; providing a forming plate having a bearing surface and having at least one first web structure extending from the bearing surface in an axial direction, the first web structure extending in a plane parallel to the bearing surface and defining the air gap to be produced in the honeycomb structure; and arranging the at least one metal foil on the bearing surface in the first web structure.
