Engine system
An engine system which combines an internal combustion engine with a unique air-cooling system. The air-cooling system includes a cooling cylinder(s) which is disposed in the engine block. Input air is expanded through the cooling cylinder from the intake manifold directly to the exhaust manifold. No high compression or combustion takes place in the cooling cylinder. Heat from the cooling cylinder is transferred to the input air, and the heated air is then exhausted to the internal combustion engine exhaust stream where it is used to help power a turbocharger.
Oil jet apparatus of internal combustion engine
Provided is a valve housing configured to be inserted into an insertion hole that extends in a direction approximately orthogonal to an extending direction of an oil path and configured to be freely movable along an extending direction of the insertion hole. When an oil jet switching valve is closed, the tip end portion of the valve housing is configured to be pressed to the inner wall surface of the oil path by receiving an energized force from an energizing unit.
Valve for controlling piston cooling jets in an internal combustion engine
A valve for controlling piston cooling jets in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The valve includes a valve body equipped with an oil inlet for drawing oil from an oil gallery and an oil outlet for connection with a piston cooling jet gallery. The valve body is equipped with an air inlet for drawing air from an intake manifold of the engine, and with a valve element configured to be actuated by the pressure of the oil entering the oil inlet and of the air entering the air inlet.
Piston for an internal combustion engine
The present invention relates to a piston (10) for an internal combustion engine, which has a piston skirt (14) as well as a piston head (13) having a circumferential ring belt (21) and having a circumferential cooling channel (24) closed off with a closure element (26), wherein a circumferential recess (23) is formed between the piston head (13) and the piston skirt (14). According to the invention, it is provided that the closure element (26) consists of at least two subcomponents (27, 28), that each subcomponent (27, 28) has a radially oriented base plate (29) and at least one circumferential collar (31) oriented axially on the outer edge (29a) of the base plate (29), which collar is accommodated in at least one outer fold (34) that runs underneath the ring belt (21).

Connecting rod and internal combustion engine
A connecting rod (10) has a pin bearing eye for attaching the connecting rod (10) to a crankshaft, a connecting rod bearing eye (12) for attaching the connecting rod (10) to a piston of a cylinder, and an eccentric adjusting device (13) for adjusting an effective connecting rod length. The eccentric adjusting device (13) has eccentric rods (15, 16) that act on an eccentric lever (14) of the eccentric adjusting device (13). The eccentric adjusting device (13) also has an eccentric (36) with a bore for receiving a gudgeon pin (37). Lubricating oil bores (38, 39, 40, 41) in the connecting rod bearing eye (12) and in the eccentric (36) enable a lubricating oil film to be built up between the connecting rod bearing eye (12) and the eccentric (36) and also between the eccentric (36) and the gudgeon pin (37).
Piston for an internal combustion engine
A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston head may include a piston crown, a circumferential fire land, a circumferential ring belt having a plurality of ring grooves, and a circumferential cooling duct. The cooling duct may be open in a direction away from the fire land and may be at least partially closed by a closure element. The cooling duct may include a cooling duct bottom and a cooling duct ceiling. The piston skirt may have at least two piston bosses connected to one another via at least two running faces. At least one running face may have an inner face connected via a connecting land to an underside of the piston head.
Piston cooling for opposed-piston engines
Pistons for opposed-piston engines include an interior annular cooling gallery. The gallery is provided with inlet and drain passageways constructed to shield a jet of liquid coolant entering the gallery, thereby reducing interference between the incoming jet and liquid coolant circulating in the gallery.
Reciprocating engine
A reciprocating engine includes a crankshaft and a connecting rod rotatably coupled to the crankshaft. The connecting rod defines a fluid passage extending along a length thereof. The reciprocating engine also includes a piston dome coupled to the connecting rod, the piston dome defining an inlet in fluid communication with the fluid passage of the connecting rod for receiving a fluid from the fluid passage of the connecting rod, a cooling passage in fluid communication with the inlet for circulating the fluid through the piston dome, and an exit in fluid communication with the cooling passage.
Piston with enhanced undercrown cooling
A piston for an internal combustion engine is provided. The piston includes an open inner cooling area in which the undercrown surface is exposed, and an annular outer cooling gallery. The piston also includes an oil outlet scoop for local cooling of the undercrown surface of the piston. The outer cooling gallery includes an oil outlet opening, and the oil outlet scoop is beneath and vertically aligned with the oil outlet opening. The oil outlet scoop includes a concave surface facing the oil outlet opening. During operation, oil exits the oil outlet opening, and the oil outlet scoop catches the exiting oil and directs the oil to the inner cooling area and the exposed undercrown surface.
