Coolant pump with plastic bonded magnet
A coolant pump includes a pump frame, a driving wheel driven by an engine, a pump wheel driven by the driving wheel, and a clutch which couples the driving wheel with the pump wheel. The clutch comprises a friction surface arranged at the driving wheel, and a clutch disc which corresponds to the friction surface. The clutch disk is connected with and co-rotates with the pump wheel, and is axially shiftable between an engaged and a disengaged position. An axial pretension spring pretensions the clutch disc into the disengaged position. A permanent magnet forces the clutch disc into the engaged position. An electromagnet, when energized, generates a polarization which is opposite to a polarization of the permanent magnet to reduce a total magnetic attraction force of the permanent magnet with respect to the clutch disc and to thereby push the clutch disc into the disengaged position via the pretension spring.

METHOD AND SYSTEMS FOR A RADIATOR FAN
Systems and a method are provided for determining a change in performance of a radiator fan. In one example, a system includes a controller configured to receive a signal output from an accelerometer positioned proximately to and/or operatively coupled with a bearing of a radiator fan, process the signal to determine a peak to peak acceleration value, and indicate a change in performance of the radiator fan when the peak to peak acceleration value is greater than a designated threshold value.
Method of determining condition of coolant in vehicle
The present disclosure provides a method of determining a coolant condition of a vehicle, and more particularly, a method of accurately determining a coolant condition, e.g., a condition in which gas is present in a system and an insufficient coolant condition without a separate additional sensor in a vehicle using an electric water pump (EWP). To this end, the present disclosure provides a method of determining a coolant condition of a vehicle, including, in a vehicle including an electric water pump (EWP) for circulating a coolant, acquiring driving state information of a water pump while the water pump is driven, by a controller, calculating a ripple value of a driving state from the acquired driving state information of the water pump, by the controller, and comparing the calculated ripple value with a reference value to determine a condition of a coolant, by the controller.
Method and system for diagnosing an engine coolant pump
Methods and systems to diagnose operation of an engine coolant pump are presented. In one example, the engine coolant pump is operated while an engine is stopped so that operation of the coolant pump may not effect engine operation. The engine coolant pump may be operated at different speeds to assess engine coolant pump operation.
Engine assembly with heat management system
There is disclosed an engine assembly for an aircraft, including: a combustion engine including a coolant circuit in heat exchange relationship with a heat sink, the heat sink including a heat exchanger and at least one component, the at least one component having a main function that differs from thermal exchange. A method of operating the system is also disclosed.

A method of operating the system is also disclosed.
Coolant pump for an internal combustion engine
A pump is provided with a pump housing defining a volute chamber positioned between a central inlet and an impeller face, with the housing defining a recess intersecting the face and surrounding an aperture, and the housing defining sequentially first and second ramps, a wall section, and a protrusion extending into the recess. An impeller is positioned within the chamber adjacent to the face, with the impeller connected to a drive shaft extending through the aperture. A method is provided for cooling a drive shaft sealing member by controlling fluid flow through the pump.
Fault diagnosis apparatus of coolant circulation system for vehicle
A fault diagnosis apparatus of a coolant circulation system for a vehicle includes: a water pump for circulating coolant; a controller for applying a revolutions per minute (RPM) command to the water pump; a water pump driver for operating the water pump depending on the applied RPM command; and a current sensor for sensing an current input to the water pump driver. The controller determines whether the input current sensed by the current sensor is within a predetermined normal range to determine whether the coolant circulation system is failed or not.
