A controller of a fan coupling device includes: an acquisition unit that acquires an acceleration parameter and a deviation parameter; a control unit that controls a regulation mechanism; a prediction unit that predicts that hunting occurs in the rotation speed of the fan, when an operating point of the fan expressed with the deviation parameter and the acceleration parameter belongs to a predicted region; and a restraining unit that executes, when the hunting is predicted to occur, a hunting restraining process of executing at least one of lowering an integral gain of a feedback control to be lower than when the hunting is not predicted to occur and increasing a derivative gain of the feedback control to be higher than when the hunting is not predicted to occur.

A clutch assembly includes a stationary journal bracket assembly having a base, a stub shaft that extends axially from the base, and a passage, a threaded bracket journal coupled to the stub shaft and accessible through the passage, pulley bearings supported on the threaded bracket journal, an integrated pulley/shaft including a pulley and a center shaft, and a clutch mechanism. The center shaft includes a cup-like hub and a distal portion that extends axially from the cup-like hub. The cup-like hub is supported on the pulley bearings, located at least partially within a blind hollow interior area of the cup-like hub. The threaded bracket journal is located at least partially within the hollow interior area of the cup-like hub.
Valve Control System for Viscous Friction Clutch
A viscous friction clutch includes a rotor, a housing that is rotatable relative to the rotor, a working chamber located between the rotor and the housing such that a volume of shear fluid can be selectively introduced to the working chamber to contact both the rotor and the housing, an electromagnetic coil, a valve assembly that controls the volume of the shear fluid present in the working chamber, and a flux path that magnetically links the electromagnetic coil and the valve assembly. The flux path passes through a flux guide part made of a ferromagnetic material that extends through the rotor in an interior of the viscous friction clutch and across a flux gap that traverses both an air gap and a non-ferromagnetic portion of the housing.
Apparatus for controlling engine cooling of a vehicle, a system having the same and a method thereof
An engine cooling control apparatus, a system including the same, and a method thereof provide an engine cooling control apparatus including a processor configured to calculate a required fan rotation speed for controlling a cooling fan based on proportional integral (PI) control and a storage configured to store data acquired by the processor and an algorithm for driving the processor. The processor classifies a plurality of control regions depending on a coolant temperature and adjusts and outputs the required fan rotation speed for each of the control regions.

Controller of fan coupling device
A controller includes: a control unit configured to calculate a control command value of an opening degree of a solenoid valve to control an opening degree of the solenoid valve; and an acquisition unit configured to acquire an estimated amount and a target amount of a working fluid in a labyrinth chamber, and a rotation speed of a drive shaft. The control unit calculates a final control command value based on a feedback control command value and a feedforward control command value, and controls the solenoid valve, the feedback control command value being calculated based on deviation between the estimated amount and the target amount, the feedforward control command value being used to maintain a rotation speed of a fan constant based on the estimated amount and the rotation speed of the drive shaft.
Hybrid fan drive with electric motor
Thermal management systems for vehicle engines which include hybrid fan drives with viscous clutches and electronic motors, particularly brushless DC motors (BLDC). One embodiment incorporates a pulley driven, electronically controlled viscous clutch mechanism and an internal rotor BLDC motor. Another embodiment includes an engine crank mounted electronically controlled viscous clutch mechanism with a tethered electric motor, particularly a BLDC motor. A further embodiment is an engine block mounted electronically controlled viscous clutch mechanism with an integrated external rotor BLDC motor.
Two speed clutch with viscous system
A clutch device for a clutch system has an input member that rotates at a first speed. A friction drive system is disposed between the input member and an output member. The clutch device is selectively movable by a fluid actuator assembly, between an engaged position in which the friction drive system drives the output member to rotate at the first speed, and a disengaged position in which a viscous drive system rotates the output member at a second speed slower than the first speed. A variable viscous fluid supply assembly includes a viscous fluid storage chamber, a valve, and a valve actuator that selectively drives the valve to move between an open position and a closed position to control an amount of viscous fluid available to the viscous drive system, thereby varying the second speed.
Fan clutch
A fan clutch, in particular for a fan of a cooling system of a motor vehicle having a housing and an annular flange for connecting the fan, wherein the flange is arranged centrally around a housing axis, wherein the flange forms a flat flange-ring plane substantially perpendicular to the housing axis and has a flange-ring inner side and a flange-ring outer side which bound the flange-ring plane, wherein the flange is contorted in the flange-ring plane in certain areas in a direction substantially parallel to the housing axis.
FLUID FRICTION CLUTCH
A fluid friction clutch with a housing, a clutch plate and a reservoir that are disposed in the housing, a supply pump element rotatably coupled to the clutch plate, a supply conduit and a valve. The clutch plate and the housing form a working chamber. The supply conduit couples the reservoir to an inlet side of the working chamber. The supply pump element has a pump inlet and a pump outlet that are spaced circumferentially apart from one another about a rotational axis of the clutch plate. The pump outlet is coupled in fluid communication with the supply conduit. The valve has a valve element that is movable between a first or extended position and a second or retracted position. Placement of the valve element in the first position at least partly blocks fluid flow to the pump outlet.
