Pre-Chamber Spark Plug for a Combustion Chamber of a Combustion Engine, Combustion Engine, and Motor Vehicle
A pre-chamber spark plug for a combustion chamber of a combustion engine includes a pre-chamber which has a plurality of openings and an electrode device which is disposed in the pre-chamber. An ignition spark for igniting a fuel-air mixture introduced into the pre-chamber is generatable at a spark location in the pre-chamber by the electrode device. The pre-chamber spark plug is configured to bring about a tumble-shaped flow of fuel-air mixture flowing into the pre-chamber via the plurality of openings. The tumble-shaped flow has, in a first region of the pre-chamber, a first flow part pointing upward away from the plurality of openings, and, in a second region of the pre-chamber, a second flow part adjoining the first flow part and pointing downward in a direction of the plurality of openings. The spark location is disposed at least in part in the second region.
Pre-Chamber Spark Plug for a Combustion Chamber of a Combustion Engine, Combustion Engine and Motor Vehicle
A pre-chamber spark plug for a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine includes a pre-chamber which has a plurality of openings. A fuel-air mixture is introducible from the combustion chamber into the pre-chamber via the plurality of openings. With respect to an imaginary plane running in a longitudinal extension direction of the pre-chamber and dividing the pre-chamber into a first half and a second half of equal size, first openings are disposed in the first half and second openings are disposed in the second half. The first openings enclose a respective first angle with the imaginary plane, the second openings enclose a respective second angle with the imaginary plane, and a mean value of the first angles is greater than a mean value of the second angles. The plurality of openings are configured rotationally asymmetrically about an imaginary axis running on the imaginary plane.
PRECHAMBER SPARK PLUG HAVING AN OPTIMIZED CAP, AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A prechamber spark plug. The spark plug includes a housing, a cap, which defines a prechamber at least partially, and which includes a plurality of through holes that are configured to produce a connection between the prechamber and a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine; the through holes each having a hole center line; the cap including a recess at a region pointed towards the housing, the recess abutting the housing at a combustion-chamber-side end of the housing; a distance from an exit point of a through hole lying on the hole center line, to a recess, being in a range of 2 mm to 7 mm; and a first angle between a center axis of the prechamber spark plug and the hole center line being in a range of 30° to 70°. An internal combustion engine including such a prechamber spark plug is also described.
SPARK PLUG AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME
In a spark plug, at least one injection hole serves as a ground-directed injection hole arranged to face a facing side of a ground electrode. An extension line of the center axis of the at least one ground-directed injection hole intersects with the facing side of the ground electrode at an intersection point. The facing side of the ground electrode has a closer region closer to the projection-end edge of the ground electrode than the intersection point is. The closer region of the facing side intersects with the extension line of the center axis of the ground-directed injection hole at a predetermined angle as viewed in the axial direction of the spark plug. The predetermined angle being an obtuse angle.
Spark plug
This spark plug includes a cap portion covering a center electrode and an end of a ground electrode from a front side. In a cross section including an axial line, where a pitch of an external thread of a metal shell is X (mm), an axial-line-direction distance between a crest of a rear-end ridge of a full thread portion of an external thread and a rear end of a contact portion of an insulator with which the metal shell contacts directly or via another member is A (mm), an axial-line-direction distance between the rear end of the contact portion and a front end of the insulator is B (mm), and an axial-line-direction distance between the rear end of the contact portion and a seating surface of the metal shell is C (mm), 0<A<4X, B≤15, and C≤3.6 are satisfied.
Prechamber sparkplug having electrodes located for inhibiting flame kernel quenching
A prechamber sparkplug includes a housing having a nozzle with a prechamber formed therein, and each of a first set and a second set of electrode prongs within the prechamber. The second set of electrode prongs downwardly depend from attachment points to the housing, and form, together with the first set of electrode prongs, spark gaps within the prechamber. Each of the anode-cathode pairs formed by the sets of electrode prongs is spaced radially inward a clearance distance from the prechamber wall to position the spark gaps in a flow of swirled gases. The flow of swirled gases displaces a flame kernel formed at the spark gaps to inhibit quenching.
