Methods and system for improving compressor recirculation valve operation
Systems and methods for improving compressor recirculation valve operation of an engine that includes a compressor are presented. The systems and methods adjust a position of a waste gate while the compressor recirculation valve is operated in a closed loop mode to maintain engine intake manifold throttle inlet pressure during a diagnostic mode to adapt operation of the compressor recirculation valve.
Turbocharger-equipped internal combustion engine
A turbocharger-equipped internal combustion engine includes an exhaust turbine, an exhaust filter, a differential pressure detector, an atmospheric pressure sensor, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to control the internal combustion engine such that accumulation amount of a particulate matter in the exhaust filter is regulated. The electronic control unit is configured to control the internal combustion engine such that the accumulation amount of the particulate matter in the exhaust filter is increased, when the pressure difference detected by the differential pressure detector is a lower limit or less. The electronic control unit is configured to set the lower limit such that the lower limit becomes a higher value as the atmospheric pressure detected by the atmospheric pressure sensor becomes lower.
System and method for avoiding compressor surge during cylinder deactivation of a diesel engine
A system and method for improving the functioning of a turbocharged diesel engine equipped with a cylinder deactivation system includes detecting when the turbocharged diesel engine is at risk of compressor surge, and then delaying the implementation of the cylinder deactivation. The delay may be a set period of time, or it may be determined by performing a set of instructions effective for estimating changes in intake manifold pressures over time if cylinders are deactivated, and then comparing the intake manifold pressure estimates to acceptable intake manifold pressure information. A formula for performing the required estimates is provided.
Valve piston seal
A valve having a housing, a solenoid arranged in the housing, a pin movable by the solenoid, a piston connected to the pin, a second housing part that bears against the housing and which partially accommodates the piston, and a seal arranged between the second housing part and piston. The seal is connected to the second housing part. The seal surrounds a region of the second housing part such that the region forms at least one undercut for the seal.
Method of operating an engine assembly
A method of operating an engine assembly is provided. The engine assembly comprises an engine and a turbocharger assembly, wherein a control parameter of the turbocharger assembly is controllable in order to control a level of boost provided by the turbocharger assembly. The method comprises determining a desirable pressure limit of exhaust gases upstream of a turbine of the turbocharger assembly, predicting a desirable limit value of the control parameter to be applied to the turbocharger assembly in order to achieve the desirable pressure limit, determining an error in the desirable limit value of the control parameter, adjusting the desirable limit value of the control parameter based on the error, and controlling the operation of the turbocharger assembly such that the adjusted limit value is not exceeded.
Connecting arrangement for turbocharger actuator
Methods and systems are provided for an actuator connected to a turbocharger via a connecting arrangement. In one example, a system may include a connection arrangement which yields above a threshold force. The yielding of the connection arrangement may allow the movement of the actuator in a predetermined direction.
Intake passage structure for turbocharger-equipped engine
An intake passage structure for a turbocharger-equipped engine (1) includes a supercharging passage (71) and an air relief passage (72) that are provided in a compressor case (72a). The air relief passage (72) has a first passage (73) and a second passage (74), each of which is in a non-linear shape. The first and second passages (73) and (74) each have an air outflow port (73a, 74a) formed through an inner wall surface of an upstream portion (71a) of the supercharging passage (71) upstream of a compressor (21). The air outflow ports (73a, 74a) are formed through different portions of the inner wall surface in a circumferential direction of the inner wall surface so as to overlap with each other in a direction along a central axis of the upstream portion (71a).
Straddled vehicle
In a vehicle, a rod of a waste gate valve actuator reciprocates along a virtual plane which is parallel to both the central axis of a connecting shaft of a turbocharger and the cylinder axis of a cylinder hole. When viewed in the left or right direction of the vehicle, a main catalyst of a catalyst portion is provided forward of the cylinder axis of the cylinder hole. The flow direction of the exhaust gas in the main catalyst intersects with the reciprocating direction of the rod of the waste gate valve actuator when viewed in a direction orthogonal to both the central axis of the connecting shaft of the turbocharger and the central axis of the cylinder hole.
Electric charging device with rotor cooling
A charging device for an internal combustion engine with rotor cooling has a shaft, a compressor wheel mounted on the shaft, a stator housing and a stator. The stator is arranged in the stator housing. The charging device additionally has a rotor arranged rotatably fixed on the shaft The rotor is surrounded by the stator. A first fan device is arranged for common rotation with the shaft in order to generate a circulating air flow in the stator housing for cooling the rotor.
