INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, COMBUSTION SYSTEMS, AND RELATED METHODS AND CONTROL METHODS AND SYSTEMS
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to internal combustion engines, combustion systems that include such internal combustion engines, and controls for controlling operation of the combustion engine. The internal combustion engine may include one or more mechanisms for injecting fuel, air, fuel-air mixture, or combinations thereof directly into one or more cylinders, and controls may operate or direct operation of such mechanisms.

Diesel engine with turbulent jet ignition
A diesel engine employs a turbulent jet ignition system and method. In another aspect, diesel fuel and air are premixed prior to introduction of the mixture into a main engine combustion chamber. A further aspect employs a turbocharger compressor to boost air pressure into a main piston combustion chamber and/or an ignition pre-chamber for missing with a heavy fuel, such as diesel.

Turbocharger system, compressor system that forms part thereof, and method of controlling air flow to an engine
In an aspect a method is provided for controlling air flow to an internal combustion engine, comprising: providing a in turbocharger and a compressor that is driven by the turbocharger; driving rotation of a turbine of the turbocharger using exhaust gas from the engine; driving rotation of an impeller of the compressor to generate pressurized air for the engine; sending pressurized air from a pressurized air storage chamber to the internal combustion engine if the pressurized air generated by the impeller is sufficiently low; and sending pressurized air from the compressor to the pressurized air storage chamber for storage therein if the pressurized air generated by the impeller is sufficiently high.
Hybrid vehicle
Provided is a hybrid vehicle that includes a power train including an internal combustion engine equipped with a plurality of cylinders and a drive motor unit. The drive motor unit includes an electric motor coupled to the internal combustion engine without a clutch. The internal combustion engine includes one or more decompression devices that are each installed for a subset of one or more cylinders and that operate to release compression pressure in the subset of one or more cylinders in at least one of the course of an engine stop and course of an engine start-up in which combustion is not performed. The subset of one or more cylinders are selected such that, when the one or more decompression devices are operating, compression is not produced sequentially in cylinders that are adjacent to each other in terms of the firing order.
