WATER FUEL EMULSION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GAS TURBINE
A gas turbine engine includes a first combustor having a first fuel nozzle, wherein the first fuel nozzle is configured to supply a water fuel emulsion into the first combustor. The water fuel emulsion includes a water-in-fuel (WIF) emulsion having a plurality of water droplets dispersed in a fuel, wherein the plurality of water droplets is configured to vaporize within the fuel to cause micro-explosions to atomize the fuel, and the atomized fuel is configured to combust to generate a combustion gas. The gas turbine engine further includes a turbine driven by the combustion gas from the first combustor.

GEAR AND BEARING INDENTS TO INDUCE FLUID FILM
A fuel pump assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a shaft for transmitting motion, a gear connected to and coaxial with the shaft with the gear having a first wear surface, a first bearing coaxial with the shaft with the first bearing being configured to support the gear and having a second wear surface positioned to interact with the first wear surface, and a plurality of indents. The indents are distributed in the first wear surface or the second wear surface and at least two of the plurality of indents are partially aligned in a radial direction.
GEAR AND BEARING INDENTS TO INDUCE FLUID FILM
A fuel pump assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a shaft for transmitting motion, a gear connected to and coaxial with the shaft with the gear having a first wear surface, a first bearing coaxial with the shaft with the first bearing being configured to support the gear and having a second wear surface positioned to interact with the first wear surface, and a plurality of indents. The indents are distributed in the first wear surface or the second wear surface and at least two of the plurality of indents are partially aligned in a radial direction.
CONTROL FOR ELECTRICALLY ASSISTED TURBINES
In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, there is provided a method of accelerating a gas turbine engine. The method includes adding torque to a core of the gas turbine engine to accelerate rotation of the core by controlling fuel flow to a plurality of fuel injectors of the gas turbine engine. The method also includes adding torque to the core by powering an electric machine that is operatively connected to the core. In embodiments, controlling fuel flow to the plurality of fuel injectors is based on feedback from the electric machine.
CONTROL FOR ELECTRICALLY ASSISTED TURBINES
In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, there is provided a method of accelerating a gas turbine engine. The method includes adding torque to a core of the gas turbine engine to accelerate rotation of the core by controlling fuel flow to a plurality of fuel injectors of the gas turbine engine. The method also includes adding torque to the core by powering an electric machine that is operatively connected to the core. In embodiments, controlling fuel flow to the plurality of fuel injectors is based on feedback from the electric machine.

A fuel oxygen conversion unit for a vehicle or an engine of the vehicle includes a contactor; a mechanically-driven, first fuel gas separator defining a liquid fuel outlet and a stripping gas outlet, the fuel oxygen conversion unit defining a liquid fuel outlet path in fluid communication with the liquid fuel outlet of the first fuel gas separator; and a second fuel gas separator positioned in fluid communication with the liquid fuel outlet path at a location downstream of the first fuel gas separator.

A method of repairing a rod guide assembly of a fuel control unit of an aircraft engine is provided. The method comprises disconnecting a used spring seat from the rod of the rod guide assembly and welding a replacement spring seat to the rod using an electron beam controlled using a circular beam deflection pattern.
