Method of operating an internal combustion engine
Methods and systems are provided for an engine. In one example, a method comprises stopping an engine via a soft-stop method in response to a likelihood of condensate forming being less than or equal to a threshold likelihood. The method further comprises stopping the engine via an exhaust gas evacuation method in response to the likelihood of condensate forming being greater than the threshold likelihood.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR COMPRESSOR OUTLET TEMPERATURE REGULATION
Methods and systems are provided for controlling a boosted engine system, having a turbocharger and a charge air cooler, to limit overheating of a compressor outlet. In one example, a method includes predicting an engine torque profile based on current and future engine operating conditions. The method then models a compressor outlet temperature profile and reduces engine torque output to limit overheating of the compressor outlet.
Method for preventing engine air flow calculation error and engine system thereof
A method for preventing an engine air flow calculation error applied to an engine system may classify an engine operation area of an engine into a sensor measurement deviation generation area, medium/high load areas, and a low load area by an ECU, and classify an air flow calculation applied to a cylinder charging amount of the engine as one of an air flow calculation control applying a compensation measurement air flow to the sensor measurement deviation generation area, an air flow calculation control applying a measurement pressure to the medium/high load areas, and an air flow calculation control applying a measurement air flow to the low load area, excluding influence of an HFM sensor error causing a change in a fresh air charge and inaccuracy of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) air flow modeling/active purge air flow modeling in the entire operation area of the engine.
CONTROL DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an air intake channel, an exhaust gas recirculation channel which enters into the air intake channel, a valve seat formed at an opening at an end of the exhaust gas recirculation channel, and an elastic valve disk which is placeable on the valve seat via an actuator so that the opening of the exhaust gas recirculation channel can be closed. A plane spanned by the valve seat and/or by the valve disk forms an at least single-curved concave surface.
Control device for an internal combustion engine
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an intake channel with an inlet and an outlet, a control element, an exhaust gas recirculation channel with an opening, a recirculation channel, and a shaft having the control element eccentrically mounted thereon. The exhaust gas recirculation channel enters the intake channel. The opening of the exhaust gas recirculation channel is a valve seat for the control element. The shaft acts as an axis of rotation for the control element. A rotation of the shaft moves the control element between a first end position where the control element throttles the intake channel and a second end position where the control element contacts the valve seat at the opening of the exhaust gas recirculation channel. The axis of rotation is arranged in a plane which passes through the valve seat at the opening of the exhaust gas recirculation channel.

Control device for an internal combustion engine
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an intake channel, an exhaust gas recirculation channel which enters into the intake channel, a control element, a mixing housing which forms the intake channel, a connection element, a compressor, and a shaft. The mixing housing has a mouth of the exhaust gas recirculation channel in a lower area, an outlet, a mixing housing section, and a bowl-shaped recess. The cross-sectional extension is formed via the mixing housing to provide an axial stop face. The connection element abuts against the axial stop face and is radially limited by an axially opposite inner wall surface on the stop face. The mixing housing section has a recess arranged at the lowest point of the mixing housing section and below the axially opposite inner wall surface. The recess enters into the bowl-shaped recess of the mixing housing.
Regulating device for an internal combustion engine
A regulating device for an internal combustion engine includes a housing in which is formed an exhaust gas recirculation pipe which opens into an intake pipe, and a regulating element eccentrically mounted on a shaft. The regulating element includes a first surface, a second surface, and guide ribs arranged on the second surface so that an exhaust gas flow flows into the intake pipe when the exhaust gas recirculation pipe is opened. In a first end position of the regulating element, where the intake pipe is at throttled upstream of an opening of the exhaust gas recirculation pipe, a normal vector of the first surface points to an upstream side of the intake pipe. In a second end position of the regulating element, where the exhaust gas recirculation pipe is closed, a normal vector of the second surface points to the exhaust gas recirculation pipe.
