Methods and systems for diagnosing operation of an evaporative emissions system are described. The methods and systems may include increasing an amount of vacuum stored in an evaporative emissions system during discontinuously operating an engine in a boosted operating mode. Storing vacuum allows the evaporative emissions system to reach a desired vacuum level to verify absence of an evaporative emissions system breech.
Systems and methods for passive purging of a fuel vapor canister
Methods and systems are provided for reverse purging of a fuel vapor canister of an engine. In one example, a method may include heating a fuel vapor canister, sealing a fuel tank in order to generate a vacuum in the fuel tank, and in response to the pressure in the fuel tank reaching a target vacuum, initiating reverse purging of the fuel vapor canister.
Methods and systems for reducing hydrocarbon breakthrough
Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle engine to reduce engine knock and increase fuel efficiency by reducing hydrocarbon breakthrough. In one example, a method may include adjusting a compression ratio of a variable compression engine in response to hydrocarbon breakthrough above a threshold from a fuel vapor canister of an evaporative emissions system.

The methods and systems may attempt to reactivate a refueling valve that has stuck due to the refueling valve being exposed to liquid fuel. In one example, a voltage that is applied to the refueling valve may be increased to reactivate the refueling valve.
Fuel system for a vehicle and method of controlling
A method of controlling an evaporative emissions system for a vehicle is provided. A fuel system for a vehicle and a vehicle are also provided. A signal indicative of an entry condition associated with a secondary air flow path for a purge of an evaporative emissions canister is received. A filter is decoupled from a port of the evaporative emissions canister in response to receiving the signal and prior to the evaporative emissions canister purge. The evaporative emissions canister is purged by flowing atmospheric air into the port and through the evaporative emissions canister while the filter is decoupled from the port. The filter is coupled to the port of the evaporative emissions canister after purging the canister.
Systems and methods for vehicle fuel tank refueling
Methods and systems are provided for vehicle fuel tanks including multiple reservoirs. In one example, a method may include opening a canister purge valve of a fuel system responsive to a fuel level of a fuel tank transitioning above a first threshold fuel level, and closing the canister purge valve after flowing a pre-determined amount of fuel to the fuel tank while the canister purge valve is open.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSING AN EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM
Methods and systems are presented for diagnosing a breach of an evaporative emissions system. The methods and systems include repurposing a resonator as a vacuum reservoir to reduce a pressure of an evaporative emissions system so that it may be determined if there is or is not a breach of the evaporative emissions system.
BLEED CANISTER OF A VEHICLE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for carrying out diagnostics of a bleed canister of an evaporative emissions control system in a vehicle. In one example, a method may include, loading the bleed canister during a refueling event, and then during an immediately subsequent engine start, detecting if the bleed canister is degraded or not based on output of an exhaust gas oxygen sensor.

Methods and systems for determining integrity of fuel tank pressure transducer
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing potential degradation of a fuel tank pressure sensor. In one example, a method may include, in response to an ambient pressure reading by the fuel tank pressure sensor during an evaporative emissions (EVAP) system diagnostic, applying vacuum to the EVAP system and indicating degradation of the fuel tank pressure sensor if the canister undergoes an endothermic reaction. If the fuel tank pressure sensor is determined to not be degraded, the method further includes distinguishing between the ambient pressure reading being caused by a leak in the EVAP system and a canister purge valve being stuck closed.
