CONTROLLER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLINIG INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured to control the fuel injection valve so that the fuel injection valve selectively performs partial lift injection, which does not open a valve member at a fully open position, and full lift injection, which opens the valve member at the fully open position. The internal combustion engine includes the fuel injection valve and a fuel supply system. The controller includes an energizing time setting unit, a fuel pressure calculation unit, and a smoothening process unit. The energizing time setting unit is configured to set an energizing time for the full lift injection based on graded fuel pressure calculated by the smoothening process unit and set an energizing time for the partial lift injection based on fuel pressure calculated by the fuel pressure calculation unit.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUEL SYSTEM FOR COMPRESSION-IGNITION ENGINE
A supplemental fuel system includes a fuel mixer. The fuel mixer includes a nozzle and a stem. The nozzle is configured to be positioned within a conduit of an air supply system for a compression-ignition engine. The nozzle has a body defining a first inlet positioned at a first nozzle end thereof, an outlet positioned at a second nozzle end thereof, a second inlet positioned between the first nozzle end and the second nozzle end, and a nozzle passage extending from the first nozzle end to the second nozzle end that is configured to receive air flowing through the conduit. The stem has a first stem end interfacing with the second inlet. The stem is configured to extend through a wall of the conduit such that a second stem end is positioned outside of the conduit.
Port-direct injection engine systems and methods using ethanol-gasoline fuels
Methods and systems for flex fuel engines that have both port fuel injection and direct injection. Operating an engine system includes determining a percent of ethanol in a fuel and determining whether the percent of ethanol is greater than a predetermined threshold. When the percent of ethanol is greater than the predetermined threshold, fuel is supplied only through the direct injection injectors. When the percent of ethanol is not greater than the predetermined threshold, fuel is supplied through a combination of the direct injection injectors and port fuel injection injectors.

CONTROL APPARATUS
A control value calculation part includes an in-cylinder state estimation part that estimates a state to which the cylinder belongs between a plurality of PM-PN generation states. The plurality of PM-PN generation states are states in which a particulate matter is easily generated as compared with the other state, and are different from each other in a cause to generate the particulate matter. Further, in a case where it is determined that an operation state of an engine is a PM-PN exhaust state, the control value calculation part calculates a control value of an actuator in such a way to eliminate the PM-PN generation state according to the PM-PN generation state to which the state in the cylinder belongs.
NEGATIVE PRESSURE OPERATING METHOD
Method of operating an internal combustion engine that applies to both types of ignition types; Spark Ignition (SI) and Compression Ignition (CI). The method comprises opening the intake valve, allowing the fuel and air mixture to flow through the intake valve and into the chamber during at least during a portion of the intake stroke; closing the intake port during a portion of the intake stroke; applying a negative pressure during a portion of the intake stroke; directly or indirectly igniting the fuel and air mixture during a portion of the intake stroke; opening the exhaust valve during the exhaust stroke.
The operation of intake valve, the exhaust valve, and the application of the ignition source is performed at any time during the intake and/or exhaust stroke or cycle.

DRIVE DEVICE FOR FUEL INJECTION DEVICES
A method for detecting variations between the quantities of fuel injected into cylinders by fuel injection devices and correcting the fuel injection quantity variation while minimizing the computational load on a drive device and the level of performance required of a pressure sensor includes a drive device for fuel injection control, wherein movable valves are driven so that predetermined quantities of fuel are injected by applying, for the duration of a set energization time, a current that will reach an energization current to solenoids of a plurality of fuel injection devices which open/close fuel flow paths. The drive device is characterized in that the set energization time or energization current is corrected on the basis of a pressure detection value from a pressure sensor that is attached to a fuel supply pipe disposed upstream of the plurality of fuel injection devices.
