ENGINE WITH CYLINDER CRANKCASE AND OIL RETURN COLLECTION CHANNEL AND OIL DRAIN
An internal combustion engine, in particular, a diesel internal combustion engine, including a cylinder crankcase (1), at least one oil return collection groove (2), at least one oil drain (3), in which depressurized oil (4) discharges in the direction of the oil pan, following gravity, and at least one cylinder (5) is provided.
Cast dual wall bulkhead with integral oil drain
Systems and methods are provided for a cylinder block having one or more bulkheads. The bulkheads provide a dual-wall structure that may enhance the stiffness of the cylinder block in bending and torsion. The bulkheads may also provide an oil drain to allow oil to directly drain through a hollow core of the bulkhead. An overflow outlet may be formed in an inner wall of a bulkhead. In some implementations, a cylinder block with bulkheads may increase an oil capacity of an engine.
Enhanced aero diesel engine
A ferritic aero diesel engine. The ferritic aero diesel engine includes an iron crankcase, a steel crankshaft and eight steel piston assemblies. The iron crankcase has a flat, horizontally opposed eight cylinder arrangement with a first set of cylinder walls defining a first set of cylinders in a first bank and a second set of cylinder walls defining a second set of cylinders in an opposed second bank. The steel crankshaft is rotatably mounted at least partially within the iron crankcase. Each of the steel piston assemblies of the plurality of steel piston assemblies is received within a respective cylinder of the iron crankcase and is coupled to the steel crankshaft. The first and second sets of cylinder walls have a minimum wall thickness of between approximately 4.8 and 5.2 mm.
Engine
An engine includes an output shaft, a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a cap portion, and head bolts. The cylinder block, the cylinder head, and the cap portion are fastened together with the head bolts. The cylinder block includes a cylinder portion and a plurality of output shaft supporting portions. When an outer wall face of at least one of the plurality of output shaft supporting portions is viewed along an output shaft axial direction, the outer wall face includes a first rib diagonally extending from a supporting portion of the output shaft toward one of two head bolt holes.
Cylinder block with integrated oil jacket
An engine block, an engine sub-assembly, and method for providing and manufacturing an engine block. The engine block includes a plurality of cylinder barrels positioned in the engine block, at least one oil jacket channel formed in the engine block, and an oil inlet port positioned in a peripheral wall of the engine block and connected to the at least one oil jacket channel. The at least one oil jacket channel includes a plurality of curved channel sections. Each curved channel section in the plurality of curved channel sections extends about at least a portion of a circumferential portion of a respective cylinder barrel in the plurality of cylinder barrels. The at least one oil jacket channel extends between adjacent cylinder barrels of the plurality of cylinder barrels in the engine block.
Cylinder block of internal combustion engine
A cylinder block of an engine is provided. The cylinder block includes a cast body defining one or more cylindrical bores. The cylinder block also includes a crankshaft bearing wall formed within the cast body. The crankshaft bearing wall is configured to be removably coupled with a bearing cap to define an opening for rotatably supporting a crankshaft of the engine. The cylinder block further includes a chamfered shoulder portion casted on the crankshaft bearing wall.
Bore bridge cooling channels
Systems are provided for cooling a cylinder block via bore bridge cooling passages. In one example, a cylinder block with a bore bridge positioned between a first cylinder and a second cylinder, the cylinder block also including a coolant jacket at least partially surrounding the first cylinder and the second cylinder, has at least one cooling passage positioned within the bore bridge. An inlet of the at least one cooling passage has a larger area than an outlet of the at least one cooling passage and at least a portion of the at least one cooling passage has a non-cylindrical geometry formed by a lost core.
Cylinder block assembly
A cylinder block assembly has: a cylinder block having three cylinders aligned side-by-side; and four crank caps arranged side-by-side in an alignment direction of the cylinders and fastened to the cylinder block. The crank caps and the cylinder block are provided with crank bearings which rotatably support a crankshaft. The crank caps are arranged at both sides of each cylinder in the alignment direction. Intermediate crank caps positioned at intermediate positions in the plurality of the crank caps include removed parts so as to more easily deform when receiving a load from the crankshaft compared with the side crank caps.
