Stratified scavenging two-stroke engine

An air-leading type, stratified scavenging two-stroke engine. The engine including a cylinder member and a crankcase joined therewith has an intake passage, an exhaust passage, first and second scavenging passages, a communicating portion and an air passage. The intake passage, the exhaust passage and the air passage are formed in the cylinder member. The first and the second scavenging passages each has a cylinder member-side passage and a crankcase-side passage. The cylinder member-side passages of both of the first and the second scavenging passages communicate with each other via the communicating portion. The air passage is connected to the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage. In the engine, air for pre-scavenging is introduced from the air passage through a check valve into the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage, and a part of the introduced air flows into the second scavenging passage through the communicating portion.

Internal combustion engines

Disclosed is a piston ported two-stroke compression ignition internal combustion engine comprising: a cylinder having a fixed closed end, and a piston for reciprocation within the cylinder, wherein the closed end of the cylinder and the piston together define a combustion chamber therebetween; at least one heater to heat the combustion chamber; and a controller to control the heater to heat the combustion chamber when the controller determines that a temperature of the combustion chamber has fallen below a threshold temperature during reciprocation of the piston within the cylinder.

Stratified scavenging engine and portable work machine

Provided is a stratified scavenging engine and a portable work machine that suppress THC sufficiently. A stratified scavenging engine includes: a cylinder having a cylinder bore; and a piston stored in the cylinder bore to be movable in a reciprocating manner. The cylinder has an intake port to intake leading air and a scavenging port to scavenge combustion gas, the intake port and the scavenging port being open to the cylinder bore. The piston has a peripheral surface including a piston groove to guide leading air from the intake port to the scavenging port, and the piston groove has a recess near the intake port.

A cylinder structure of an internal combustion engine contains: a body, a titanium plating layer, and two shells. The body is die casted and includes a combustion chamber surrounded by a peripheral fence and a cylinder head, a gas inlet and a gas outlet which are defined on two sides of the combustion chamber respectively, and the body includes two gas purge units, the two gas purge units have a first purge orifice and a second purge orifice. The titanium plating layer is located on a second internal fringe of the peripheral fence of the body. Each of the two shells covers each gas purge unit so as to close the first purge orifice and the second purge orifice and to define a gas conduit among the first purge orifice, the second purge orifice, and the peripheral fence.
