Multiple piece piston
The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, an assembly that includes a piston having a piston inner surface defining a cylindrical cavity and includes a first axial portion, a piston face at a first end of the first axial portion, a second axial portion at a second end of the first axial portion, and a helical piston thread defined upon the piston inner surface, a bushing configured to contact the piston inner surface, and a lock nut configured to engage the piston and the bushing.
Method and system for thrust reverser operation
There are described a system and method for operating a thrust reverser of an aircraft engine, the thrust reverser having a deployed state and a stowed state. The method comprises placing the thrust reverser in the stowed state when the thrust reverser is in the deployed state, a thrust lever associated with the engine is in a forward position, and the engine is rotating at a speed below an idle speed, wherein hydraulic pressure for stowing the thrust reverser is provided by a pump driven by the engine rotating at the speed below the idle speed.
RADIALLY CONNECTED CASCADE GRIDS
In various embodiments, a cascade array may comprise an actuator, a first cascade having a first integral flange, and a second cascade having a second integral flange, wherein the first cascade and the second cascade are operatively coupled to one another via the first integral flange and the second integral flange to form a cascade assembly, and the actuator is disposed between the first cascade and the second cascade.
THRUST REVERSER ACTUATION ARRANGEMENT AND DEPLOYABLE FAIRING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method for deploying a thrust reverser includes translating a carrier along a track, transferring a first load between the carrier and a first reverser door in response to the carrier translating along the track, rotating the first reverser door between a closed position and an open position in response to the carrier translating along the track, transferring a second load between the carrier and a deployable fairing in response to the carrier translating along the track, and rotating the deployable fairing between a stowed position and a deployed position in response to the carrier translating along the track.
Synchronization mechanism for pivot door thrust reversers
A thrust reverser includes a frame having a longitudinal axis, a first reverser door pivotally mounted to the frame, a second reverser door pivotally mounted to the frame, a crank pivotally mounted to the frame, a first link connecting the crank to the first reverser door, and a second link connecting the crank to the second reverser door. In various embodiments, both the first reverser door and the second reverser door are driven by a single actuator.
Thrust reverser for variable area nozzle
A variable area nozzle assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a fixed structure surrounding an exhaust duct extending along a nozzle centerline. The fixed structure further includes a first lateral side and a second lateral side opposite the first lateral side. The variable area nozzle assembly further includes a nozzle. The nozzle includes a nozzle outlet including a nozzle outlet cross-sectional area. The variable area nozzle assembly further includes a thrust reverser system including a first thrust reverser door and a second thrust reverser door. The first thrust reverser door is pivotably mounted to the fixed structure at the first lateral side. The second thrust reverser door is pivotably mounted to the fixed structure at the second lateral side. The first thrust reverser door and the second thrust reverser door define a portion of the nozzle outlet of the nozzle.
TRANSLATING COWL THRUST REVERSER PRIMARY LOCK SYSTEM
A primary lock system for a translating cowl thrust reverser system includes a primary lock having a housing, a lock, and a manual mechanism. The lock is disposed at least partially within, and is movable relative to, the housing and is movable between a lock position and an unlock position. The manual mechanism is coupled to the lock and is configured, in response to a manual input force supplied to the manual mechanism, to: selectively move from a first position to a second position, whereby the lock is selectively moved from the lock position to the unlock position, respectively, and selectively prevent movement of the lock out of the lock position.
BONDED DOUBLE WALL SEAL ASSEMBLY
A seal assembly includes a first wall extending from a compression side to a fastened side of the seal assembly, a stiffening member embedded within the first wall adjacent to the compression side of the seal assembly, and a second wall exterior of the first wall and extending from the compression side to the fastened side of the seal assembly. When the seal assembly is pressurized, the first wall and the second wall define an insulated pocket.
TURBOFAN COMPRISING A SERIES OF ROTARY BLADES FOR CLOSING OFF THE DUCT FOR THE SECONDARY STREAM
A turbofan with a sliding element, rotary blades that can rotate between stowed and deployed positions, and a maneuvering system which moves each blade when the sliding element moves and which includes, for each blade, a rotary main shaft, for each main shaft, a transmission lever rigidly secured to the main shaft, at least two connecting strips articulated to one another, wherein each connecting strip is associated with at least three main shafts, the transmission levers of which are articulated to the connecting strip, and a drive system which rotates the first connecting strip when the sliding element moves. The use of rotary blades on the sliding element and the simplified maneuvering system makes the assembly more lightweight compared to the use of conventional reverser doors.
HIDDEN DRAG LINK FOR THRUST REVERSER ASSEMBLY
A thrust reverser assembly may comprise a cascade of vanes and a sleeve configured to translate relative to the cascade of vanes. The sleeve may include an inner sleeve portion, an outer sleeve portion, and a pressure sleeve portion. The pressure sleeve portion may be located radially inward of the outer sleeve portion and may extend forward from the inner sleeve portion. A blocker door may be hingedly coupled to the pressure sleeve portion. A drag link may be pivotably coupled to the blocker door. A forward end of the drag link may be configured to deploy radially inward in response to aft translation of the sleeve.
