Systems and methods for treated exhaust gas recirculation in internal combustion engines

Systems and methods for treated exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for an internal combustion engine are disclosed. The internal combustion engine has an exhaust manifold discharging exhaust gas and an intake manifold receiving forced air from a compressor. One or more exhaust treatment devices treat the exhaust gas and produce a treated exhaust gas. The EGR system includes an EGR line downstream of the one or more exhaust treatment devices and connected to the engine intake line downstream of the compressor, wherein the treated EGR line recirculates the treated exhaust gas to the intake manifold of the engine without passing through the compressor.

The invention relates to an intake device for a compressor. The intake device comprises a support structure having a plurality of struts which are arranged in the circumferential direction about an axis of the support structure and extend in the radial direction. Furthermore, the intake device comprises a plurality of first sound-damping elements which are arranged in the radial continuation of the plurality of struts. In addition, the intake device comprises a plurality of second sound-damping elements, each of which is arranged between adjacent first sound-damping elements. The invention furthermore relates to an exhaust-gas turbocharger having the intake device according to the invention, and an internal combustion engine having an exhaust-gas turbocharger of this kind.

Turbo-boost controlled intake system

A turbo-boost controlled intake system is disclosed that provides a driver of a vehicle with greater control over vehicle performance. The turbo-boost controlled intake system includes a control module that is coupled with an aircharger air intake. The control module instructs an electronic control unit of the vehicle to increase manifold pressure to a higher level before releasing the pressure through a waste gate so as to provide a greater power output of the engine. The turbo-boost controlled intake system further includes a wiring harness and a signal adjuster. The wiring harness couples the control module with a turbo inlet pressure sensor, a manifold absolute pressure sensor, and an electronic control unit of the vehicle. The signal adjuster includes a rheostat that enables manual adjustment of the power output of the engine.

Internal combustion engine system and method for reduced turbo lag

Provided herein is internal combustion engine system including: an internal combustion engine; a turbocharger turbine operatively connected to a turbocharger compressor; an air intake system; an exhaust gas system; an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) conduit; an EGR valve; and a turbomachine arranged in the EGR conduit. Further, the EGR valve and the turbomachine are positioned in relation to each other in the EGR conduit such that a flow of high pressure exhaust gas through the EGR conduit towards the air intake system reaches the EGR valve before reaching the turbomachine; an additional exhaust gas conduit is arranged between the EGR conduit and a point of the exhaust system downstream the turbocharger turbine so as to allow exhaust gas to flow.

The integrated cylinder head and turbocharger housing includes: (i) a compact low wetted area to provide an uninterrupted flow path pointed directly at a catalyst face to facilitate achieving cold start emissions targets, (ii) a casting core assembly with specific core geometry and steps for assembly to enable core assembly while meeting all cylinder head and integrated turbine housing functional requirements, (iii) an oxygen sensor disposed pre-turbine in an integrated exhaust manifold, and (iv) a fully integrated PCV make-up air system.

The estimated surge margin can be determined in response to the measured pressure ratio across the compressor, an estimated compressor flow, and a compressor map for the compressor.
