Air induction system including air duct having cylindrical wall with opening extending radially therethrough and feature for minimizing airflow disturbances caused by presence of opening
An air induction system includes an air duct and an air permeable membrane. The air duct is configured to deliver intake air to an engine. The air duct includes a cylindrical wall defining a bore and an enclosure projecting from an outer radial surface of the cylindrical wall and defining a cavity therein. The cylindrical wall has an opening extending therethrough that enables airflow from the bore to the cavity in the enclosure. The air permeable membrane is configured to cover the opening in the cylindrical wall.
MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR AND HYDROCARBON TRAP COMBINATION
A combined mass airflow sensor and hydrocarbon trap is provided for absorbing evaporative hydrocarbon emissions from an air intake duct of an internal combustion engine. The combined mass airflow sensor and hydrocarbon trap comprises a duct that supports a hydrocarbon absorbing sheet in an unfolded configuration within a housing. The duct communicates an airstream from an air filter to the air intake duct during operation of the internal combustion engine. An opening in the housing receives a mass airflow sensor into the duct, such that the mass airflow sensor is disposed within the airstream. Guide vanes extending across the duct reduce air turbulence within the airstream passing by the mass airflow sensor. Ports disposed along the duct allow the evaporative hydrocarbon emissions to be drawn into the interior and arrested by the hydrocarbon absorbing sheet when the internal combustion engine is not operating.
Tamper resistant hydrocarbon trap for combustion engines
An air intake system for a combustion engine includes an air intake duct in fluid communication with an engine intake manifold and a conduit component inserted into the air intake duct along a first assembly direction. The air intake system also includes a hydrocarbon (HC) trap secured to the conduit component within the air intake duct. The conduit component defines at least one retention feature to maintain a position of the HC trap such that removal of the HC trap from the air intake duct results in structural compromise of the at least one retention feature. The air intake duct is also configured to shield the at least one retention feature from user access to inhibit user removal of the HC trap.
FUEL INJECTION UNIT FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The present disclosure provides a fuel injection unit for an internal combustion engine. The fuel injection unit includes: a separator that is disposed in an intake port to supplie air into a combustion chamber formed in an engine head, and that divides a channel for air into an upper channel and a lower channel; a blade disposed ahead of the separator and opening or closing the upper channel or the lower channel by rotating; and a first injector disposed over the intake port. In particular, when the first injector injects fuel, the blade does not interfere with the fuel.
Engine cylinder head intake port configuration
A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine is disclosed having an intake port geometry configured to reduce fuel puddling and improve fuel atomization. The cylinder head includes a housing having a recess defining a top portion of a combustion chamber. The cylinder head further includes intake and exhaust ports defined by channels extending from the top portion of the combustion chamber to an outer end of the housing. An intake valve is positioned within the cylinder head to control communication of the intake port with the combustion chamber, and an exhaust valve is positioned within the cylinder head to control communication of the exhaust port with the combustion chamber. The intake port further includes a cross-section having a modified D-shape with a single 90 degree corner. The modified D-shape cross-section extends substantially a length of the intake port.
Inline high frequency fiber silencer
A high frequency attenuating device for an air flow induction system of a vehicle employing a thermoformed fibrous mat of any shape that fits robustly inside the duct. The dissipative nature of the fibrous mat helps in achieving broadband attenuation in the high frequency regime. The ability to manufacture the fibrous mat into any shape helps with restriction, targets different attenuation bands, and makes it more feasible to manufacture. Hybrid solutions are possible when combined with low frequency perforated silencers or high frequency QWT arrays injection molded onto them.
MODIFIED ENERGY-SAVING ONE-DIMENSIONAL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The present invention discloses an internal combustion engine, comprising a compressor, a combustion chamber, a pipeline, a spray pipe, an oil feeder, a driving device, a first safety device, a second safety device, an electric ignition device, a rack, a first bracket arranged on a top of the rack, a second bracket arranged on an upper part of the rack, a third bracket arranged on a lower part of the rack and a fourth bracket arranged on a left part of the rack. The compressor comprises an inner shell and an outer shell, wherein the inner shell comprises an upper pressing plate and a cylindrical plate; the cylindrical plate can move up and down in the cylindrical plate slot; and an outlet is formed in a non-protruding part at the bottom of the outer shell. The internal combustion engine has simple structure and high efficiency.
Induction system including a hydrocarbon trap
Methods and systems are provided for a hydrocarbon (HC) trap system in an engine air induction system. In one example, a system may include a pillow-case type HC trap housed in a rectangular opening formed in a wall of an air conduit at the outlet of an air cleaner box. A frame may be integrally formed around the opening to support the HC trap protruding outward from the wall.
