A direct-injection, supercharged internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder, in which each cylinder is equipped with a direct injection apparatus, a fuel supply system comprising a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side, and a high-pressure piston pump comprising a piston displaceable in translational fashion between a bottom dead center and a top dead center of a pressure chamber of variable volume. The displaceable piston jointly delimits the pressure chamber with variable volume in such a way that a displacement of the piston causes a change in the volume of the pressure chamber via actuation of least one movable actuation element.
FUEL PUMP WITH INLET VALVE ASSEMBLY
A fuel pump includes a pump housing with a pumping chamber an inlet valve bore. An inlet valve selectively provides and prevents fluid communication between an inlet of the fuel pump and the pumping chamber. The inlet valve includes an inner housing received within the inlet valve bore such that an outer periphery of the inner housing is sealed to an inner periphery of the inlet valve bore. An outer housing circumferentially surrounds the inner housing. An annular chamber is defined radially between the inner housing and the outer housing and axially between the outer housing and the pump housing. A sealing ring is located within the annular chamber such that the sealing ring is compressed axially against the pump housing and the outer housing.
Fuel pump and inlet valve assembly thereof
A fuel pump includes a fuel pump housing with a pumping chamber and an inlet valve bore which extends along an inlet valve bore axis. The inlet valve bore is stepped such that the inlet valve bore includes a shoulder which is traverse to the inlet valve bore axis. A pumping plunger reciprocates within a plunger bore along a plunger bore axis such that an intake stroke of the pumping plunger increases volume of the pumping chamber and a compression stroke of the pumping plunger decreases volume of the pumping chamber. An inlet valve assembly includes a valve seat with a valve seat flow passage extending therethrough, the valve seat abuts the shoulder and is urged toward the shoulder by pressure within the pumping chamber during the compression stroke. The inlet valve assembly also includes a valve member which is moveable between an unseated position and a seated position.

A suction valve of a high-pressure fuel pump for a vehicle includes a housing having an inlet through which a fuel is introduced and a pump chamber configured to press the fuel, a valve installation space arranged between the inlet and the pump chamber, and a solenoid part provided with a rod for performing a linear reciprocal motion, and further includes a valve sleeve inserted into the valve installation space and formed with a flow hole, a valve spring seated on the valve sleeve, a valve plate elastically supported by the valve spring, and moving in conjunction with the rod, and a valve sheet formed with an introduction hole opened and closed by the valve plate, in which the valve sleeve is slid and inserted into the valve installation space, and the valve sheet is fitted into and fastened to the valve installation space to support the valve sleeve.

A fuel pump includes a pump housing with a pumping chamber an inlet valve bore. A pumping element comprises a first flow chamber; a second flow chamber in fluid connection with the first flow chamber, the second flow chamber including a shoulder; a check valve including a first insert and a second insert, the first insert being movable between a first position wherein the first insert forms a seal that inhibits fluid flow between the first and second flow chambers and a second position wherein the first insert permits fluid flow between the first and second flow chambers, the second insert being inserted into the second flow chamber to an extent limited by the shoulder; and a spring having a first end engaging the first insert and a second end engaging the second insert; wherein the first insert moves from the first position to the second position against a biasing force of the spring in response to pressurized fluid in the first flow chamber.
Fuel Pump
Provided is a fuel pump capable of improving productivity. According to the present invention, a fuel pump includes a pump body 1, a plunger 2, an electromagnetic suction valve 3, and a relief valve 4. The plunger 2 reciprocates in a first room 1a which is a columnar space portion provided in the pump body 1. The electromagnetic suction valve 3 causes fuel to be sucked into a pressurizing chamber 11 formed by the first room 1a and the plunger 2. When the fuel pressure on the downstream side of the pressurizing chamber 11 exceeds a set value, the relief valve 4 opens, and brings the fuel back to the pressurizing chamber 11. The pump body 1 includes a second room 1b in which the relief valve 4 is disposed, and a communication hole 1e for causing the first room 1a and the second room 1b to communicate with each other. The diameter of the communication hole 1e is equal to the diameter of the first room 1a.
Intake Arrangement
Intake arrangement for an internal combustion engine for the intake of a liquid medium from a container, having a strainer, via which liquid medium can be taken in from the container, and having at least one suction pipe which opens with a first end into the strainer and via which the liquid medium can be delivered towards a suction pump, which interacts with the respective suction pipe. The suction pipe is mounted at a second end that faces away from the strainer such that it can be pivoted about an axis such that the suction pipe follows a movement of the liquid within the container.

A pump unit for feeding fuel, preferably diesel fuel, to an internal combustion engine; the pump unit (1) comprising: a head (4) inside which a cylinder (12) extending along an axis (A1) is formed; a pumping piston (5) extending along the axis (A1) and slidingly coupled with the cylinder (12); a through-hole (13) which extends from the cylinder (12) towards the outside of the pump unit (1); an intake chamber (8) communicating with the cylinder (12) via the hole (13); an intake valve (7) which controls the flow of fuel from the intake chamber (8) to the hole (13); a cap (23; 123; 223) which is connected to the head (4), is arranged on the opposite side to the pumping piston (5) and can be selectively fixed along an outer surface (25) of the head (4) so as to close the intake chamber (8) on one side.
