System and Method for MHSG Failure Diagnosis of Mild Hybrid Vehicle
An embodiment system for mild hybrid starter and generator (MHSG) failure diagnosis of a mild hybrid vehicle includes a data detection part configured to detect data for determining whether to activate a catalyst, and a controller configured to determine whether there is an MHSG failure using a deviation between a required torque and an actual operating torque of an MHSG after determining whether catalyst activation is needed and whether to start a stage of the MHSG failure diagnosis based on the data detected by the data detection part.
SYSTEM SHARING BATTERY WITH EXTERNAL DEVICE
In a system that shares a battery with an external device, the system includes a power storage device connected to the battery via a power supply line. The system includes a switch provided on the power supply line, and a control unit. The control unit controls on-off switching operations of the switch to selectively establish an electrical conduction between the battery and the power storage device or interrupt the electrical conduction therebetween. The battery has a battery voltage thereacross, and the power storage device has a power-storage voltage thereacross. The battery charges the power storage device while the electrical conduction is established so that the power-storage voltage follows the battery voltage. The control unit turns off the switch when the battery voltage is in a predetermined insufficient voltage state to prevent electrical power charged in the power storage device from being discharged to the battery.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING GROUND FAULT PROTECTION ON DIRECT CURRENT POWER FEEDS OF ENGINE COMPONENTS
Systems and methods of providing fault protection on direct current (DC) feeds to various engine or generator set components are provided. In some embodiments, generator set includes a ground fault device arranged between a DC power distribution circuit and a subsystem of the generator set. The ground fault device is configured to detect a fault condition based on a comparison of a first current in a first wire with a second current in a second wire between the DC power distribution circuit and the subsystem. In response to detecting the fault condition, the ground fault device is configured to disconnect the subsystem.
Apparatus and method for retrofit engine start/stop and idle control
A system and method for retrofit engine start/stop control system for an air starter equipped internal combustion engine includes a circuit to energize and air control value, an air pressure sensor, a programmable logic controller, an engine block temperature sensor to measure an external engine temperature, an ambient temperature sensor, an ignition circuit connector, a battery voltage sensor, and an engine speed sensor. The programmable logic controller is configured to start the engine when at least one of the pressure of the compressed gas tank, an external engine block temperature, an ambient air temperature, and a battery output voltage fall below a predefined threshold value for startup.
Devices and methods for determining a vehicle alternator condition
Devices and systems for determining an alternator condition in a motor vehicle are provided. The method includes performing a plurality of micro wakeups to capture voltage values during a cranking event, determining the maximum cranking voltage and its timestamp, detecting an ignition signal, determining the maximum device voltage and its timestamp, and determining a potential alternator undercharging condition if a duration between the maximum cranking voltage timestamp and the maximum device voltage timestamp is greater than an undercharging indicator duration threshold. Advantageously, an alternator may be repaired or replaced before it fails thus averting having the motor vehicles inoperable.
SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING OPERATION OF A CONTACTOR USING A HIGH SIDE SENSE CIRCUIT AND A LOW SIDE SENSE CIRCUIT
A system for controlling operation of a contactor is provided. The system stops outputting a control signal to open the contactor, and then measures a low side sense signal from a low side sense circuit electrically coupled to a low side end of a contactor coil, or a high side sense signal from a high side sense circuit that is electrically coupled to a high side end of the contactor coil, to determine whether the contactor has a closed operational position, and if not, the system stops outputting another control signal to open the contactor.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING ENGINE STARTING SYSTEMS
Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to monitor engine starting systems. An example apparatus includes processor circuitry to execute instructions to measure engine starting system data from a machine; determine a total starting crank time and an ambient air temperature for the machine from the engine starting system data; compare the engine starting system data using a machine learning model; model a relationship between the ambient air temperature and the total starting crank time; generate a score of an engine starting system from the machine learning model; determine comparison result from the relationship between the ambient air temperature and the total starting crank time; and display an alert to a user based on at least one of the score of the engine starting system or the comparison result from the relationship between the ambient air temperature and the total starting crank time.

A method for estimating the aging of a battery of a motor vehicle with a combustion engine, the vehicle including an electric starter, a temperature sensor for the temperature of the coolant, a speed sensor for the speed of the combustion engine and a computer for managing the drive system of the vehicle. The method includes, each time the combustion engine is started, the steps of the computer determining the value of the speed of the combustion engine and the value of the temperature, if the determined value of the speed is higher than a speed threshold, incrementing a first counter, if the determined value of the speed is lower than the speed threshold, incrementing a second counter, detecting the aging of the battery when the value of the second counter is higher than a predetermined alert threshold.
