Rocker pinion starter

Methods and systems are provided for starting a vehicle engine. In one example, an engine starter system for starting the vehicle engine may comprise a ring gear coupled to an engine crankshaft, and a pinion gear coupled to a starter motor, the pinion gear having rotatable rocker elements for engaging the ring gear. In this way, the pinion gear may be engaged with the ring gear to transmit torque from the starter motor to the engine crankshaft to quickly start the engine.

METHOD FOR STARTING A COMBUSTION ENGINE

A method is for the safe starting of a combustion engine in a handheld, portable work apparatus. When starting, start rpm limiting is activated when the rotational speed of the combustion engine exceeds an activation rotational speed that lies above the coupling rotational speed of a centrifugal coupling. After activating the start rpm limiting for at least one working cycle, an intervention in the ignition is carried out such that the rotational speed of the combustion engine decreases. After the rotational speed has decreased below a lower engagement rotational speed, an intervention in the ignition is carried out such that the rotational speed increases. If the rotational speed exceeds an upper engagement rotational speed, an intervention in the ignition is again carried out such that the rotational speed decreases. The upper engagement rotational speed and/or the lower engagement rotational speed is/are changed with an increasing number of consecutive working cycles.

Recoil starter and engine

A recoil starter (103) includes a pull rope reel (22), a ratchet wheel (31), a pulley (32), a ratchet pawl (33), and an outer wall (32e). The ratchet pawl (33) is capable of swinging between an engaged position where the ratchet pawl engages with a protruding part (31a) and a disengaged position where the ratchet pawl does not engage with the protruding part, and is always urged toward the engaged position. A support surface (32d) of the outer wall (32e) supports the base end portion of the ratchet pawl (33) when the ratchet pawl (33) is in the engaged position. The internal space of the pulley (32) and the external space of the pulley (32) are communicate with each other through the foreign matter discharge portion (32f) of the outer wall (32e).

CONTROL SYSTEM HAND-HELD POWER TOOL USE OF A CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING

Herein a control system (10) for controlling an internal combustion engine of a hand-held power tool (2) is disclosed. The control system (10) comprises an electronic control logic (24), a first and a second sensor (26, 28). A first conductive path (36) comprises the first sensor (26). A second conductive path (38) comprises the second sensor (28). The first and second conductive paths are connected to an input (40) of the electronic control logic (24). The first and second conductive paths are connected to a fixed voltage potential. The first conductive path (36) has a first electrical property and the second conductive path (38) has a second electrical property. The first electrical property and the second electrical property together are different from at least one of the first electrical property and the second electrical property, such that the electronic control logic (24) is able to detect different states.

Torque transfer unit for an engine starting system

A starting system for a vehicle including an internal combustion engine having a crankshaft includes a pinion gear driven by a starter motor. A drive plate includes a set of teeth in constant meshed engagement with the pinion gear. A one-way clutch assembly is adapted to drivingly interconnect the drive plate and the crankshaft. The clutch assembly includes an inner race adapted to be fixed for rotation with the crankshaft, an outer race fixed for rotation with the drive plate, and a plurality of rollers positioned radially therebetween. One of the inner and outer races includes circumferentially spaced apart cam surfaces. The clutch assembly also includes a cage for positioning the rollers in a circumferentially spaced apart alignment with the cam surfaces and a roller bearing assembly positioned axially offset from the one-way clutch rollers to rotatably support the outer race on the inner race.

Recoil starter

One aspect of the invention provides a recoil starter including: a reel support shaft; a rope reel that is rotatably mounted on the reel support shaft; a ratchet member that is swingably mounted on the rope reel; a ratchet guide that is rotatably mounted on the reel support shaft with friction resistance. The ratchet guide includes: a guide portion and a swinging-prevention portion. When the rope reel rotates in an engine starting direction, the guide portion pushes out the ratchet member to an outer diameter direction. When the ratchet member does not contact the guide portion, the swinging-prevention portion prevents the ratchet member from swinging to the outer diameter direction.
