On an inner wall surface of a plug hole, an internal thread portion and a seat portion are formed. The seat portion has a tapered seat surface. A glow plug with a combustion pressure sensor includes a housing, a glow heater, a load transfer member, and a pressure detector. The housing has an external thread and a seat facing portion. The seat facing portion has a tapered contact surface in surface contact with the tapered seat surface. A recessed portion recessed to be in non-contact with the seat portion is formed annularly about a central axis of the housing.

METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a combustion engine. A main amount of gas fuel is fed via a pre-chamber into a main combustion chamber. An ignition quantity of gas fuel is fed into the pre-chamber before the piston reaches the upper dead center to form an air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber, which is fatter than in the main combustion chamber. The air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber ignites itself. The air-gas fuel mixture in the main combustion chamber ignites through the self-ignited air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber.

Apparatuses, systems and method for utilizing multi-zoned combustion chambers (and/or multiple combustion chambers) for achieving compression ignition (and/or spark-assisted or fuel-assisted compression ignition) in an internal combustion engine are provided. In addition, improved apparatuses, systems and methods for achieving and/or controlling compression ignition (and/or spark-assisted or fuel-assisted compression ignition) in a “Siamese cylinder” internal combustion engine are provided.

CONTROL DEVICE FOR DIESEL ENGINE
20170370318 · 2017-12-28 ·

When a diesel engine is determined to be in a motoring state, a hysteresis zero angle H.sub.0 is determined (step S14). Subsequently, a gradient d.sub.n is calculated (step S16). The gradient d.sub.n is calculated based on data (θ.sub.n, Δh.sub.n) of a deviation Δh.sub.n at a retardation side from the hysteresis zero angle H.sub.0 and at an advance side from a predetermined crank angle. Subsequently, the gradient d.sub.n and the hysteresis zero angle H.sub.0 are updated (step S18). When the diesel engine is determined to be in a non-motoring state, data (θ.sub.n, P.sub.n) of an actual in-cylinder pressure is corrected based on a newest correction coefficient η and hysteresis zero angle H.sub.0 (step S22).

Gasoline internal combustion engine with assisted compression ignition

An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber with a cylinder head, a cylinder, and a piston. The internal combustion engine also includes at least one intake valve and at least one exhaust valve that are connected to the combustion chamber, a fuel injector that injects fuel into the combustion chamber, at least two ignition devices arranged in the combustion chamber, and control means that control the valves, the injector, and the ignition means. The control means operate the engine according to different combustion modes including a controlled ignition combustion mode, a compression ignition combustion mode, and an assisted compression ignition combustion mode. The control means activate the ignition means in the assisted compression ignition combustion mode.

Glow plug diagnosis method and vehicle glow plug drive control apparatus

Disclosed is a glow plug diagnosis method of being able to diagnose the aging or fault of a glow plug without being affected by cooling associated with air intake/exhaust or fuel injection, the method including: a step (S102) of energizing a glow plug 1 in a predetermined manner when a key switch 11 of a vehicle is turned on; and a step (S106) of measuring the resistance value of the glow plug 1 when the energization of the glow plug 1 is started, and the resistance value of the glow plug when the energization of the glow plug 1 is started and then a change in the resistance value is saturated, and of calculating a change in the resistance value over time as a resistance value gradient, in which it is determined that the glow plug 1 is normal when the resistance value gradient exceeds a predetermined first gradient reference value a, and it is determined that the glow plug 1 is faulty, and a warning lamp or the like is lighted when the resistance value gradient is less than a predetermined second gradient reference value b (S112 and S118).
