TIDAL ENERGY CONVERTER
20220316440 · 2022-10-06 ·

A tidal energy converter has a pivoting lever that moves in response to tidal fluid moving other elements on the converter. The pivoting lever can be operatively coupled with an electricity generator to produce electricity. Namely, the pivoting lever may be coupled to an air source and compress the air to create a compressed air. The compressed air may be used to power an electricity generator. The pivoting lever is moved by fluid that empties from a feed tank to a spill tank. There may be one or more ballast tanks connected to the feed tank and/or the spill tank. Some of the feed tanks work in opposing unison with one of the ballast tanks.

Low density fluid displacement to store or generate power

The present application pertains to systems and methods for storing and generating power. In one embodiment the system pertains to a first storage reservoir near the surface of a body of water and configured to store a fluid which has a lower density than water. A second storage reservoir is located below the surface of the body of water and configured to store a fluid which has a higher density than water. A pump, generator, and the first and second reservoir are operatively connected such that power is stored by displacing the fluid which has a higher density than water in the second storage reservoir by pumping the fluid which has a lower density than water in the first storage reservoir to the second storage reservoir. Power is generated or discharged by allowing the fluid which has a lower density than water in the second storage reservoir to return to the first storage reservoir. The fluid which has a higher density than water may be in liquid form.

A submersible power generating system for generating electricity from total potential energy of still water has a closed endless rotation cascade cage apparatus, a compressed air generating apparatus, a compressed air storage apparatus, a gas injection apparatus, a gas retrieving apparatus, a building, an initiation power supply apparatus, a power generating apparatus, an intelligent control apparatus, a safety apparatus, a water treatment apparatus and a maintenance facility. The submersible power generating system makes full use of natural properties of water and air, performs continuous energy conversion, and achieves energy balance in three stages, so as to directly converse total potential energy of still water into electric energy, thereby achieving stable power production and obtaining inexhaustible and clean electric energy.

Apparatus and method for generating electricity with pressurized water and air flow media

A facility for generating electricity, including a water source and a plurality of penstocks adapted for selective flow communication with the water source for delivering water from the water source to a turbine electricity generator. An electricity distribution system is provided having a first component adapted to deliver electricity generated by the turbine electricity generator to an electric grid and an alternative second component adapted to use the electricity to power an air compressor. A compressed air storage reservoir is provided for storing air compressed by the air compressor, including an outlet for selectively delivering the compressed air to the plurality of penstocks according to a predetermined sequence for providing energy to the water contained in the penstock to propel the water from the penstock to the turbine.

Water current energy generator

A water current energy generator comprises a barrel configured to rotate in a water current and a pair of air compressors secured on either side of the barrel. As the barrel spins, the air compressors are actuated and compress air into a cylinder. The compressed air is then capable of being accessed by means of a pneumatic hose.

System and method for extracting power from tides

There is a desire to be able to generate electrical power from the tides without turbines posing an unacceptable hazard to sea traffic and/or life, and in particular without causing such sea traffic and/or life to alter their behaviour in response to the placement of turbines and/or other structures. According to the present invention, a tunnel (7) is provided at a height substantially between the low tide height and high tide height; a power take-off system (11) is configured to convert movement of water in the tunnel into usable energy. In this way, a tunnel inlet (5) may be placed at a location that does not interfere with shipping and/or the natural environment.

Wave energy converter

A wave operated assembly (20) configured to be submerged in a body of water (12), the wave operated assembly (20) comprising a wave actuated member (24), a second portion and a piston assembly, pressure chamber (22) or spring coupled between the wave actuated member (24) and the second portion. The wave actuated member (24) and the fixed portion each define part of a first chamber (22) or volume comprising or configured to receive a fluid. A lower portion of the wave actuated member (24) at least partly defines a free surface (35) between the fluid within the first chamber (22) or volume and the body of water (12). The wave actuated member (24) is movable relative to the second portion. The piston assembly, pressure chamber (22) or spring is configured to apply a force on the wave actuated member (24) that works in opposition to a force on the wave actuated member (24) due to the fluid in the first chamber (22) or volume.
