VERIFICATION OF FIELDBUS NETWORK CONNECTED DEVICES IN A WIND TURBINE SUB-ASSEMBLY
The present invention relates to verification of connections between a computing unit, such as a test computer, and a device, e.g. a sensor or transducer, in a fieldbus network of a sub-assembly of a wind turbine. The fieldbus network comprises a plurality of network components. One of the network components comprises a program element. The computing unit is arranged for forwarding a request to the program element to verify the connection from the computing unit to a selected device, the request comprising a sequence of selected network components between the computing unit and the selected device. The program element is arranged to establish in a sequenced manner a communication connection between the selected network components and the selected device, and to provide a response as to whether or not the connection exists.
METHOD FOR TESTING A LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM AND/OR A LIGHTNING DETECTION SYSTEM OF A WIND TURBINE
A method for testing a lightning protection system and/or a lightning detection system of a wind turbine is provided, the method including usage of an unmanned aerial vehicle including an electrical impulse generator capable to simulate a lightning strike by discharging an electrical impulse, whereby the method includes the steps of: (a) maneuvering the unmanned aerial vehicle with the electrical impulse generator contacting the wind turbine or with the electrical impulse generator being within a range of the electrical impulse generator to the wind turbine such that the electrical impulse discharged by the electrical impulse generator will impact the wind turbine, and (b) discharging the electrical impulse by the electrical impulse generator such that the discharged electrical impulse impacts the wind turbine as an impacting electrical impulse.
System and method for testing an energy storage device of a wind turbine pitch system
A method for testing capacity of at least one energy storage device of a pitch drive mechanism to drive a first rotor blade of a wind turbine connected to a power grid includes defining a rotor position range for implementing a first test procedure for the energy storage device(s). Further, the method includes monitoring a rotor position of the first rotor blade. When the rotor position of the first rotor blade enters the rotor position range, the method includes initiating the first test procedure. The first test procedure includes pitching the first rotor blade via the energy storage device(s), measuring at least one operating condition of the energy storage device(s) during pitching, and determining a capacity of the energy storage device(s) to drive the first rotor blade based on the operating condition(s) thereof.

Wind turbine ice protection system for controlling ice protection measures of at least one wind turbine
Wind turbine ice protection control systems and methods for controlling ice protection measures at a wind turbine are provided. The ice protection control system operates in multiple locations: the first being at least one remote wind turbine site and the second at least one offsite control office location. The ice protection control system includes sensors on at least one wind turbine at least one remote site for sensing internal and external environmental conditions and/or wind turbine outputs. The sensors output data which is received by a network at the wind turbine and then sent to a second network at an offsite location where it is analyzed to determine actions to be taken. In this way, multiple wind turbines at multiple wind turbine remote sites can be controlled by a single control system. Systems and methods for creating, retrieving, and storing sensor data within the ice protection control systems are also discussed.
System comprising a structure being prone to lightning strikes and icing, a method for operating the system and a wind turbine comprising the system
The present disclosure is directed to a system comprising a structure being prone to lightning strikes and icing, wherein the structure comprises a shielding arrangement electrically connected to a lightning arrangement, an electric heating arrangement connected to a power source for mitigating icing of the structure, and an electrical insulation arrangement being effectively provided between the shielding arrangement and the electric heating arrangement. A power source is configured for applying a predetermined amount of electric test- and/or maintenance-energy such that the electric test- and/or maintenance-energy is effectively present between the shielding arrangement and the electric heating arrangement. A determination device is electrically connected to the shielding arrangement and to the electric heating arrangement in a way that the shield-heating-voltage and/or the shield-heating-current being present between the shielding arrangement and the electric heating arrangement can be determined.
METHOD FOR TESTING A FUNCTIONALITY OF A SYSTEM OF A WIND TURBINE, A CONTROLLER AND A DRIVE SYSTEM
A method is for testing a functionality of a system of a wind turbine. The system includes an electro-mechanical actuator, an energy storage unit, and an energy dissipating element connectable to the energy storage unit for selectively transferring energy from the energy storage unit to the energy dissipating element. The method includes: providing first information representative of an operating mode of the system, and, if the operating mode is a test mode: causing a discharging of energy from the energy storage unit and a supply of at least a portion of the discharged energy to the energy dissipating element; receiving measurements being representative of a state of at least one of the energy storage unit and the energy dissipating element during the discharging and the supply; and determining a functionality of at least one of the energy storage unit and the energy dissipating element based on the measurements.
