A system and process for direct lithium extraction from geothermal brines, and more particular to the sequential combination of a binary cycle geothermal plant, a direct lithium extraction circuit, a lithium chloride concentration and purification circuit, and a lithium battery chemical processing circuit, for the production of battery-quality lithium hydroxide monohydrate, lithium carbonate or both from geothermal brines. The processing circuits are powered by the electricity and heat produced by the binary cycle geothermal plant without the use of carbon-based fuels. Non-condensable gases that may come out of solution from the geothermal brine are not emitted into the atmosphere.

METHOD FOR REMOVING SCALE FROM GEOTHERMAL TURBINE BLADE AND METHOD FOR GEOTHERMAL POWER GENERATION

A method for removing scale from a turbine blade in a geothermal power generation system has been developed. The developed method for removing scale from a turbine blade is characterized in that an alkaline solution and a chelating solution are injected into geothermal steam flowing into a turbine during power generation and geothermal scale formed adhering to the turbine blade is removed using the injected solutions. The present removal method can remove the scale adhering to a geothermal turbine blade in a short amount of time by improving the scale removal effect than heretofore. Further, a method for geothermal power generation preventing scale adhesion to the turbine blade is provided and a geothermal power generation system can be provided that enables continuous operation without performing opening and cleaning the turbine, even when geothermal steam containing 0.1 ppm or more of SiO.sub.2 and/or Cl is introduced into the turbine.

The process comprises recovering heat power from a geothermal fluid emitted at a hydrothermal active site at the bottom of a body of water, in particular at a bottom of a lake, a sea or an ocean; converting the recovered heat power into electricity in the body of water or at the surface of the body of water; powering at least an equipment with the electricity obtained from converting the recovered heat power; simultaneously injecting a carbon dioxide containing stream, in particular a stream of carbon dioxide dissolved in water, in a ground formation at a carbon dioxide injection site next to the hydrothermal active site to carry out a carbonation of the carbon dioxide in the ground formation.

The present invention provides a geothermal power generation system that can control deposition of silica scale. A geothermal power generation system includes: a production well; a steam separator that separates a geothermal fluid which is obtained from the production well, into steam and hot water; a turbine that is rotated by the steam separated by the steam separator; a reinjection well to which the geothermal fluid that has passed through the steam separator and/or the turbine is returned; a pH measurement system that extracts a part of the hot water separated by the steam separator and measures a pH of the hot water, and a first thermometer that measures a temperature of the hot water; an injection device that injects an alkaline chemical into the geothermal fluid; a second thermometer that measures a temperature of the geothermal fluid at a pH estimation point which is selected from the group consisting of an injection portion for the alkaline chemical, an outlet of the steam separator, and an inlet of the reinjection well; and a control device that controls the injection of the alkaline chemical by the injection device, on the basis of measurement results of the pH measurement system, the first thermometer, and the second thermometer.
