A high-pressure fuel pump includes a pump housing which defines a pumping chamber, a fuel inlet which allows low-pressure fuel into the pumping chamber, a fuel outlet which allows high-pressure fuel out of the pumping chamber, and a plunger bore which extends along an axis and opens into the pumping chamber. The high-pressure fuel pump also includes a pumping plunger which reciprocates within the plunger bore along the axis such that reciprocation of the pumping plunger within the plunger bore increase and decreases a volume of the pumping chamber. The pumping plunger includes a sealing ring groove which is concentric with the plunger bore, the sealing ring groove including a sealing ring therein which engages the plunger bore in an interference fit. A diametric clearance greater than 12 microns is provided between the pumping plunger and the plunger bore.

A high-pressure fuel pump includes a pump housing, a pump piston accommodated in a receiving opening of the pump housing, a high-pressure seal which surrounds the pump piston in a sealing manner and which seals off a high-pressure region from a low-pressure region, and a guide device which comprises at least two guide portions that are axially spaced apart from one another and guide the pump piston with a sliding fit. The at least two guide portions are arranged in the receiving opening of the pump housing. A first guide portion is arranged, as seen in an axial direction, on a side of the high-pressure seal facing toward the delivery space. And a second guide portion is arranged, as seen in the axial direction, on a side of the high-pressure seal facing away from the delivery space.

Fluid end assembly

A fluid end having its fluid flow bores sealed without threading a retaining nut into the walls of each bore. The fluid ends may be assembled using a plurality of different kits, each kit comprising a fluid end body, a component, a retainer element, and a fastening system. The retainer element holds the component within each of the bores formed in the fluid end body and the fastening system secures the retainer element to the body. The fastening system comprises a plurality of externally threaded studs, washers and nuts in some embodiments. In other embodiments, the fastening system comprises a plurality of screws.

A sealing ring includes a first sealing element having a first mating surface and a second sealing element having a second mating surface. A high-pressure boundary extends across at least a portion of the first sealing element and across at least a portion of the second sealing element, and a low-pressure boundary extends across at least a portion of the first sealing element and across at least a portion of the second sealing element. The first mating surface, the second mating surface, or both, includes a recess open to the low-pressure boundary and not open to the high-pressure boundary. The recess may include a groove, for example. The first mating surface is sealed against the second mating surface by a first force acting on the first sealing element and a second force acting on the second sealing element. These forces act to pressure-lock the assembly.

Piston pump comprising an electro-fluidic leak detection element

A reciprocating piston pump may include a fluid handling portion comprising a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a pump chamber; a drive assembly portion comprising a piston drive assembly, a reciprocating piston, a drive assembly housing, and a drive assembly chamber; and an electro-fluidic leak detection element comprising a fluid sensing portion. The reciprocating piston of the drive assembly portion extends into the pump chamber of the fluid handling portion. The piston drive assembly operates to reciprocate the reciprocating piston within the pump chamber. The electro-fluidic leak detection element is mounted within the drive assembly portion. The electro-fluidic leak detection element is configured to generate a fluid leakage signal when fluid from the pump chamber enters the drive assembly chamber and contacts the fluid sensing portion of the electro-fluidic leak detection element. A plurality of reciprocating piston pumps may be incorporated into fluid handling systems.
