Variable displacement lubricant pump for an internal combustion engine with a temperature control valve
A variable displacement lubricant pump for providing a pressurized lubricant for an internal combustion engine includes a control ring configured to be shiftable, a pump rotor comprising a plurality of slidable vanes which are configured to rotate in the control ring, a hydraulic control chamber configured to directly actuate the control ring, a valve bore, and a temperature control valve configured to connect or disconnect the temperature control opening to an atmospheric pressure. The hydraulic control chamber comprises a side wall comprising a temperature control opening arranged therein. The temperature control valve comprises a switching strip which comprises a switching temperature. The switching strip is configured to be in an open position if a temperature is below the switching temperature, and to be in a closed position if the temperature is above the switching temperature so as to close the valve bore.

Lubricant vane pump
A lubricant vane pump for providing a pressurized lubricant for an internal combustion engine includes a pump housing, a pump chamber, a shiftable control ring comprising a pressure-relief-valve, a pump rotor, a pretensioning element which pushes the control ring into a high pumping volume position, a control chamber, and a pump outlet cavity fluidically connected to the control chamber. The pump chamber comprises pump compartments which rotate from a charge to discharge zone. The control ring envelops the pump chamber. The pump rotor comprises radially slidable vanes which rotate in the control ring to provide the pump chamber with the pump compartments. A high lubricant pressure in the control chamber moves the control ring into a low pumping volume direction against the pretensioning element. The pressure-relief-valve of the control ring connects or disconnects the control chamber with one of the pump compartments between the charge zone and the discharge zone.

VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT LUBRICANT PUMP
A lubricant pump includes a housing having a shiftable control ring which radially confines a pumping chamber, an outlet chamber, a rotor, a pumping chamber pressure section, and a slide bearing. An interface between the outlet chamber and the control ring defines an outside pressure surface of the control ring. An interface between the pumping chamber pressure section and the control ring defines an inside pressure surface of the control ring. The slide bearing supports the control ring within the housing and includes a first slide bearing surface defined by the housing and which extends in a slide plane, and a second slide bearing surface defined by the control ring. An outside projection area defined by an orthographic projection of the outside pressure surface onto the slide plane is smaller than a maximum inside projection area defined by an orthographic projection of the inside pressure surface onto the slide plane.
VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT VANE PUMP WITH IMPROVED PRESSURE CONTROL AND RANGE
An arrangement of a variable capacity vane pump for an automobile is provided that includes a pump housing having an outlet and inlet. A pump control ring is provided having a cavity. The control ring is positioned within the housing to move about a pivot. A vane pump rotor is positioned within the cavity of the pump control ring. A position of the pump control ring determines an offset between a center of the pump control ring cavity and an axis of rotation of the vane pump rotor. Vanes are provided that are driven by the rotor and which engage an interior surface of the pump control ring. The vanes and the engaged surface defining working fluid chambers. A first control chamber is provided. The first control chamber is exposed to a first side of the pivot between the pump housing and the outer surface of the pump control ring. The first control chamber is operable to receive pressurized fluid to create a force to move the pump control ring to reduce a volumetric capacity of the pump. A second control chamber, positioned between the pump inlet and outlet is provided that provides a hydraulic force to increase the volumetric capacity of the pump.
