The present disclosure is of a jet pump system, and reverse power generation system and other desirable applications consisting of an impeller with inlet vortex vanes and outlet vortex vanes. The inlet vortex vane induces rotational movement on mass entering the impeller inlet. The outlet vortex vanes remove swirl from mass exiting the impeller outlet. Embodiments include a jet pump system involving a pulley and belt which can allow for obstruction free movement of mass. In another embodiment the impeller is connected via an electromagnetic connection. In another embodiment the impeller acts as a rim-driven generator of electrical power. In another embodiment the drive pulley is a centrifugal clutch or uses a chain sprocket or tandem jet system in series.

Gas turbine engines and compression systems therefor

A gas turbine engine, with a conical screw integrated compression system, that utilizes at least one conical screw as an intermediary fluid transport device to facilitate the multi-staging of non-axial compressors, such as centrifugal and diagonal compressors, as well as or alternatively to combine non-axial compressors to axial compressors and to the fan. The conical screw in the compression system applies axial flow translation and funnels, as necessary, the exit flow of the impeller, fan or compressor into the next impeller or compressor.

Method for pressure and temperature control of a fluid in a series of cryogenic compressors
10215183 · 2019-02-26 · ·

A method for pressure and temperature control of fluid in a series of cryogenic compressors. An actual speed for each compressor and an actual inlet pressure and actual inlet temperature at entry are determined. The maximum speed for each compressor and a desired inlet pressure for the first compressor is provided. A speed index for each compressor is determined from the maximum speed and actual speed of each compressor. A proportional value is determined from the deviation of the actual and desired inlet pressure. A priority value is determined from the smaller of the proportional value and the smallest speed index. A desired inlet temperature for the first compressor and a desired speed for each compressor are determined from the priority value. The actual inlet temperature is adjusted to the determined desired inlet temperature and the actual speed for each compressor is adjusted to the determined desired speed.

Fan assemblies, and in particular fan wheels and stator assemblies for fan assemblies, are disclosed. In one embodiment, the fan wheel includes a wheel back having an outer surface forming one of a curved dome-shape and a truncated cone-shape. The fan wheel may also include a plurality of fan blades radially spaced about and mounted to the outer surface of the wheel back. In one embodiment, each of the fan blades is formed from a segment of an airfoil-shaped aluminum extrusion defining at least one internal cavity. The fan blade first ends can be provided with a compound cut profile with at least one curved cut such that the first end of the blade is mounted flush to the wheel back outer surface. The stator assembly can also be provided with a plurality of stator blades formed from airfoil-shaped aluminum extrusion segments and provided with compound cut profiles.

Method for controlling the speed of cryogenic compressors arranged in series for cooling cryogenic helium
10047759 · 2018-08-14 · ·

A method for controlling speeds of compressors arranged in series for compressing a fluid. The desired inlet pressure is predefined and the actual inlet pressure is detected. The actual discharge pressure of the fluid is recorded and the actual total pressure ratio is recorded. A proportional integral value is determined from the deviation of the actual inlet pressure from the desired inlet pressure and a capacity factor is determined from the proportional integral value and the actual total pressure ratio. A model total pressure ratio is determined from the actual total pressure ratio and the capacity factor. A reduced desired speed for each compressor is determined as a function value of the control function associated with the respective compressor. The control function assigns a reduced desired speed to each value pair of capacity factor and model total pressure ratio and is used to adjust the speed of each compressor.
