Friction limiting turbine generator gyroscope method and apparatus
A friction limiting turbine gyroscope is a compact and efficient means to convert the energy of a moving fluid into electrical energy. The gyroscope's flywheel rotates when a fluid passes through its spokes while magnets located along the perimeter act upon proximate movable field coils to produce electricity. The spokes of the flywheel are optimized for the flow and density of the fluid with the ability to trans mutate using shaped memory alloys as well as rotate about their center of pressure allowing the flywheel to capture more of the energy from the fluid passing over their surfaces in all conditions. Mechanical energy losses are reduced because of the inherent stabilizing effects created by the gyroscope. Because of the stabilization, a magnetic bearing field effectively supports the gyroscope eliminating mechanical interference in rotation.

Banded turbine
A banded turbine configuration has an integral outer band support structure capable of providing two point simple support for a multiplicity of blades. A large scale vertical array has a set of twelve 23 m-diameter banded turbines with up to nine blades and resting on an Open Web Steel Joist (OWSJ) platform. The banded turbine configuration is supported off of a main shaft hub assembly, which is supported by forward and aft pillow block bearing assemblies. The banded turbine allows for a protective screen for bird- and bat-kill prevention. Each banded turbine employs DC alternators to provide a switchable output which is subsequently fed to a dedicated set of high efficiency grid-compatible solid state invertors or, alternatively, to energy storage.
Wind Turbine With Improved Safety Features
The wind turbine includes a wind driven turbine wheel rotatable about a central axis that has blades with streamers of other articles to fill the space between the blades. A set of streamers can be attached to the trailing edge of the blades at one end and including a free end wherein the free end is disposed in a space defined between adjacent blades. The streamers can also be attached to spokes.
AXIAL IMPELLER WITH ROTATING HOUSING AND POSITIONABLE BLADES
An axial impeller has a tubular housing mounted on bearings for rotation. The housing is capable of engaging a motor or generator directly or through a drive belt. Interior turbine blades are mounted on the housing wall. The blades may be hinged so they can rotate between a retracted position adjacent to the wall and an extended radial position. Rods penetrate the wall to position the blades between retracted and extended positions. When extended, the blades may be rotated to propel a fluid through the housing; and when retracted natural fluid flow is less restricted.
Belt Driven System For A Wind Turbine Generator
This system includes a belt drive system for a wind turbine generator comprising: a tower having a wind turbine wheel rotatably attached to the tower; a generator platform attached to the tower; a generator supported by the generator platform; and, a turbine drive belt adapted to engaged with the wind turbine wheel and the generator to transfer rotational energy from the wind turbine wheel to the generator to generate electricity.
Wind turbine having a plurality of airfoil rings and counter rotating generators
A wind turbine can include a first rotating ring and a second rotating ring. A first plurality of airfoils is pivotally secured between an interior rim and an exterior rim of the first rotating ring and disposed at a first angle of attack. A second plurality of airfoils is pivotally secured between an interior rim and an exterior rim of the second rotating ring and disposed at a second angle of attack. A generator is mounted between the first rotating ring and the second rotating ring and generates electricity in response to the first plurality of airfoils capturing the wind with the first angle of attack such that the first rotating ring rotates in a first direction and the second plurality of airfoils captures the wind with the second angle of attack such that the second rotating rings rotate in an opposite direction from the first rotating ring.
Turbine engine rotor including blade made of composite material and having an added root
A turbine rotor includes a plurality of blades of composite material comprising fiber reinforcement densified by a matrix. Each blade comprises a blade body extending between an inner end having a blade root and an outer end forming the tip of the blade. The rotor also includes outer platform elements of composite material comprising fiber reinforcement densified by a matrix, each outer platform element including an opening in which the outer end of a blade is engaged. The portion of the outer end of each blade that extends beyond the outer platform element includes a slot or a notch for receiving a locking element.
Capture device and method for wind and water power generation
The present invention relates to the field of energy generation. More specifically, it concerns a capture device and method which replaces and improves upon blades typically used for harnessing wind or water for power generation. The capture device is capable of efficient operation in a range of environmental conditions.
BLADE FOR SHROUDED RUNNER AND SHROUDED RUNNER COMPRISING SAID BLADE
Embodiments of the present invention are related to a shrouded Kaplan and shrouded propeller-type hydraulic turbine. More in particular, the embodiments relate to a blade for such shrouded turbines. An object of the embodiments of the present invention is to add a winglet on the pressure side of a blade to eliminate a large gap between the blade and the shroud, in order to improve performances, decrease marginal cavitation, and improve fish friendliness.
