Free floating wave energy converter with control devices
A free floating wave energy converter includes a flexible pine and an inlet. The flexible pipe floats on water surface, following the wave form. Slugs of water and air enter, one after the other, through the inlet. Because the flexible pipe follows the shape of the wave, water is transported through a manifold to a pressure chamber connected to a generator. The inlet consists of hollow, inflexible pipe attached to the throat of the flexible pipe. The inflexible pipe is fixedly attached to a buoyancy tank or plurality thereof. The buoyancy tanks are arranged in a vertical plane or in tandem, with the inflexible pipe passing along the plane vertical to the fore and aft axis of the buoyancy tank and the frontward portion projecting sufficiently ahead of the buoyancy tank with the flexible pipe terminating at a singular outlet.
Serrated trailing edge panel for a wind turbine blade
A serrated panel (70) for a wind turbine blade is disclosed. The panel (70) is configured to be attached to the trailing edge of a blade to form a plurality of serrations (71) at the trailing edge of the blade. The serrated panel comprises a base part (72) for attaching the panel (70) to the trailing edge of the blade. An exterior surface (78) of the base part comprises a corrugated surface in direction between longitudinal ends of the panel such that the exterior surface comprises crests (82) aligned substantially with midpoints of bases (80) of the serrations (71) and valleys (83) aligned substantially between serrations (71).
Pultruded fibrous composite strips having corrugated profiles for wind turbine blade spar caps
A pultruded fibrous composite strip, a spar cap made from such strips, a wind turbine rotor blade having such a spar cap and a method for making a spar cap from such strips are provided. The strip is stacked with similar strips to form the spar cap. The strip has a substantially constant cross-section defined by first and second mutually opposed and longitudinally extending sides, and by first and second longitudinal edges. The first and the second sides include first and second abutment surfaces, respectively. The first and/or the second abutment surfaces has corrugated profile such that a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves are defined on the abutment surface having the corrugated profile. When the strip is stacked with similar strips, and subsequently resin is infused, the grooves on the abutment surface having the corrugated profile facilitate transfer and flow of the resin into spaces between the stacked strips.
Rotor blade with serrations
A method using machine learned, scenario based control heuristics including: providing a simulation model for predicting a system state vector of the dynamical system in time based on a current scenario parameter vector and a control vector; using a Model Predictive Control, MPC, algorithm to provide the control vector during a simulation of the dynamical system using the simulation model for different scenario parameter vectors and initial system state vectors; calculating a scenario parameter vector and initial system state vector a resulting optimal control value by the MPC algorithm; generating machine learned control heuristics approximating the relationship between the corresponding scenario parameter vector and the initial system state vector for the resulting optimal control value using a machine learning algorithm; and using the generated machine learned control heuristics to control the complex dynamical system modelled by the simulation model.
Contoured fan blades and associated systems and methods
Contoured fan blades and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A representative embodiment includes a hub and multiple curved fan blades circumferentially arranged around, and coupled to, the hub. Individual fan blades can have a tip, a first curved edge, and a second curved edge. The first and second curved edges extend over at least part of the length between the hub to the tip of the fan blade. The fan blade is formed with multiple upper channels and multiple lower channels. The multiple upper and lower channels extend from the first curved edge to the second curved edge.

Flow hydro turbine
The hydro turbine of the invention consists of a housing, which represents a stator part of hydro turbine, or a stator (S), and a rotor (R) that is assembled on the stator (S) through its axis so as to enable its rotation. The rotor (R) is designed as an axially symmetric body with flat lateral surfaces with a circular cross-section. The circular cross-section from both outer ends, that is from both flat lateral surfaces with a circular cross-section, decreases equally and continuously towards the middle, so that the rotor (R) has a narrowest cross-section in the middle. The decrease of the circular cross-section from both outer ends of the rotor (R) towards the central part of the rotor (R) is carried out such that the shape of the rotor (R) body in the longitudinal cross-section, that is, along the axis of the rotor (R), follows the shape of a parabolic curve or a sinusoidal curve. The rotor (R) has over its entire surface, in the longitudinal direction, that is along its axis, curved grooves (U). This kind of design of the hydro turbine enables that the water flows through the grooves (U) towards the middle part of the rotor (R), where it flows out and transfers all the momentum to the rotor (R), so that the hydro turbine can generate the torque (MR) even with small and variable flows.
