HydroQueen
09828968 · 2017-11-28 ·

The device, herein to be known as the HydroQueen, is a device to convert the kinetic energy of a fluid into electrical energy using a single or multiple helix shaped vertical paddles. The helix shaped vertical paddle rotates around its axis from the force placed on face of paddle by the movement of the fluid. The electricity is generated by the rotation of the paddle around its axis. The number, length, radii, and pitch of the paddles may vary depending on the location and/or application.

AIR SEAL SYSTEM WITH BACKSIDE ABRADABLE LAYER
20230407757 · 2023-12-21 ·

A seal system for a gas turbine engine includes a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) seal arc segment and a carrier supporting the CMC seal arc segment. The CMC seal arc segment defines radially inner and outer sides and has an abradable layer disposed on the radially outer side. There is a cooling cavity radially between the carrier and the abradable layer. The carrier includes a ridge that projects into a groove in the abradable layer and provides a labyrinth seal that partitions the cooling cavity into sub-cavities.

WAVE ENERGY HARVESTER WITH THREE DEGREES OF FREEDOM
20210207570 · 2021-07-08 ·

Irregular motion of waves creates a challenge to obtain energy efficiently. Heave type devices have been found to have high efficiencies, but they are limited to capturing energy along one or two directions of freedom. A new system and method for obtaining energy from the heaving motion of the waves is presented. It consists of base and heave structures connected through arm devices comprising three degrees of freedom, said arms powered by the motion of the heave structure in the fluid. These arm devices allow capture of wave energy by mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.

BLOCK TYPE WAVE POWER GENERATION APPARATUS AND INSTALLATION METHOD THEREFOR

An improved system and method of storing water for a closed-loop pumped storage hydroelectric system is provided. The method includes providing a floating reservoir, positioning the floating reservoir in a waterbody, loading the floating reservoir with a volume of water from a source other than the surrounding waterbody, and transferring water from within the floating reservoir to an upper or lower reservoir of a pumped storage hydroelectric system. The floating reservoir includes a flexible membrane defining one or more reservoir cells including a vertically collapsible sidewall, such that each reservoir cell defines a depth varying in proportion to its internal volume of water. Each reservoir cell is buoyed by pontoons adjacent an outer periphery of the reservoir cell and is anchored to the shore or streambed.

HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT
20200191112 · 2020-06-18 ·

A hydroelectric power plant for a water stream includes an electromechanical converter and a turbine driving the converter. The turbine includes two vertical supports parallel to the flow and, between the supports, driving blades moved by the hydrodynamic lift forces, connected at each end to a drive component. The turbine further includes wheels driven by the drive component and assembled on the supports. The hydroelectric power plant includes at least first, second, and third travel areas where each drive component extends rectilinearly, the leading edges of the blades being arranged horizontally plus or minus 5 at least in the first and second travel areas. Each support includes guides and each blade includes elements abutting against the guides.
