Method for starting a hydraulic turbine
The invention concerns a method for coupling to the grid a hydraulic unit having a synchronous generator, a runner, and wicket gates. The method includes a step of increasing the flow of water into the runner from a time t.sub.0 to a time t.sub.1 so that the rotation frequency of the rotor of the synchronous generator is, at time t.sub.1 equal to the frequency of the grid, and closing the circuit breaker at time t.sub.1. A sub-interval from a time t2 to time t1 is defined, with t0<=t2<t3<=t1, wherein a sub-step is executed to apply an adjustment torque to the shaft line via a first actuator that controls the flow of water into the runner and a second actuator coupled to a stator of the synchronous generator.
Startup method of francis turbine and francis turbine
A startup method of a Francis turbine according to an embodiment includes: a first rotation-speed increasing step in which a rotation speed of the runner is increased by opening the guide vane at a first opening; a second rotation-speed increasing step in which the increase in the rotation speed of the runner is accelerated by opening the guide vane at a second opening that is larger than the first opening after the first rotation-speed increasing step; and a rotation-speed regulating step in which the rotation speed of the runner is regulated to a rated rotation speed by opening the guide vane at a no-load opening after the second rotation-speed increasing step. The first opening is an opening that is half or less than the no-load opening.
METHOD FOR DETECTING AN ELECTRICAL FAULT IN THE STATOR OF AN ELECTRIC MACHINE, ESPECIALLY IN THE GENERATOR OF A WIND TURBINE
A method for detecting an electrical fault in the stator of an electric machine is provided, wherein the stator includes multiple groups of windings, wherein the windings of each group are assigned to a respective phase of the electric machine, including the steps of: determining a respective current firstly between a subgroup of one of the groups of windings and a distinct further subgroup of the same group of windings and/or secondly between a subgroup of one of the groups of windings and a neutral point, and/or thirdly between a neutral point and either a further neutral point or to a common neutral point connected to at least the neutral point and the further neutral point, evaluating a fault condition, wherein the fulfilment of the fault condition depends on the respective determined current, and outputting a fault signal to personal and/or a device when the fault condition is fulfilled.
Startup method of Francis turbine and Francis turbine
A startup method of a Francis turbine according to an embodiment includes: a bypass-valve opening step of opening the bypass valve with the inlet valve closed; an inlet-valve opening step of opening the inlet valve after the bypass-valve opening step; and a first rotation-speed increasing step of increasing a rotation speed of the runner by opening the guide vane at an opening that is 50% or more of a maximum opening before a flow velocity of a swirling flow flowing around the runner reaches 90 m/sec.
METHOD FOR OPERATING A WIND FARM
A method for operating a plurality of wind energy installations configured for supplying electric power to an electrical supply system, that each have an aerodynamic rotor with rotor blades and an electrical generator and also operating equipment, is disclosed. The wind energy installations are operated while they are not connected to the electrical supply system, where at least one of the wind energy installations produces electric power and inputs the electric power into a local DC voltage system that connects the wind energy installations if the at least one of the wind energy installations currently produces more power than needed for supplying its own operating equipment. Additionally or alternatively, the operating equipment is supplied totally or in part with power from the local DC voltage system if the at least one of the wind energy installations currently produces less power than needed for supplying its operating equipment.
Hydroelectric turbine coil arrangement
The present invention provides a hydroelectric turbine for generating electricity by extracting power from the tidal flow of water through the turbine, the turbine comprising a shaftless rotor which results in the eccentric rotation of the rotor relative to the stator, which can result in uneven generation of power through differences in the spacing between rim mounted magnets and coils forming a generator of the turbine, the turbine thus employing groupings of equally spaced and serially connected coils.

EFFICIENT WIND ENERGY CONVERTOR WITHOUT GEARBOX OR MULTI-POLE GENERATOR
A vertical axis turbine having a first rotor and at least one second rotor, the first rotor being configured to rotate around a first rotation axis that is vertical or more vertical than horizontal, in use. The first rotor may be configured to be driven and/or rotated by fluid motion, e.g. by wind or water flow. The at least one second rotor is provided on or coupled to the first rotor such that the first rotor is operable to move the second rotor through the fluid and thereby drive the second rotor upon rotation of the first rotor. The second rotor is operable to drive a power take off system. Optionally, rotation of the first rotor around the first rotation axis moves the second rotor around the first rotation axis. Each second rotor rotates around a respective second rotation axis that may be angled or perpendicular to the first rotation axis of the first rotor and is optionally a horizontal axis or at least an axis that is more horizontal than vertical, in use. The first and second rotors are configured so that the power take-off is by direct drive without the need for a gearbox or multi-pole generator. The first and second rotors are configured so that the power conversion of mechanical power at the first rotor is converted to mechanical power at the second rotors has high efficiency.
