A fluid apparatus includes a hydraulic machine, a rotary electric machine connected to the hydraulic machine, and a power conversion controller that converts power from the rotary electric machine. A non-normal operation is performed in a warning state that differs from a normal state in which a normal operation is continued and an anomalous state in which operation is stopped to continue a stopped condition.

System and method for controlling a wind turbine to protect the wind turbine from anomalous operations

A system and method are provided for controlling a wind turbine to protect the wind turbine from anomalous operations. Accordingly, in response to receiving data indicative of an anomalous operational event of the wind turbine, the controller initiates an enhanced braking mode for the wind turbine. The enhanced braking mode is characterized by operating the generator at a torque setpoint that generates maximum available torque for a given set of operating conditions. Additionally, the torque setpoint is in excess of a nominal torque limit for the generator.

Dynamic control of trip temperature for power module

A wind turbine with a power converter system having a plurality of power modules each with a semiconductor component, such as IGBTs, and a temperature sensor arranged in thermal connection with the semiconductor component for generating a temperature signal according to a sensed temperature. A controller receives the temperature signals from the respective power modules, and the controller can shut down operation of the power converter system in case one or more of the temperature signals indicate a temperature exceeding a trip temperature threshold, wherein the controller is arranged to monitor at least one parameter and to update the trip temperature threshold accordingly.

A method for estimating a temperature of a motor of a pitch drive mechanism of a rotor blade of a wind turbine includes monitoring, via at least one sensor, an actual temperature and at least one additional operating condition of the motor during a normal operating period of the wind turbine. The method also includes storing, via a pitch controller, the monitored temperatures and the monitored additional operating conditions of the motor for the normal operating period. Further, the method includes determining a relationship between the monitored temperatures and the monitored additional operating conditions of the motor for the normal operating period. Thus, in the event that the sensor fails to operate, the method includes determining, via the pitch controller, an estimated temperature of the motor based on the relationship.

The present invention relates to a method and control system comprising at least one cable temperature sensor for measuring cable temperature values for at least one power collection cable (50, 55) connected to a wind turbine (20) and a controller (110) arranged to generate and output an overrating control signal to the wind turbine (20). The output overrating control signal sets an amount by which the power output of the wind turbine (20) is to be overrated. It is determined whether the measured cable temperature values exceed a temperature set point and modifying the overrating control signal to reduce the amount of overrating if the temperature set point is exceeded.

The electronic device includes a fan, temperature sensor, and processor. The method includes steps of: limiting the processor's performance, upon determination that not only is the fan's rotation speed greater than or equal to a predetermined upper rotation speed limit, but the electronic device's temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is also greater than or equal to a predetermined upper temperature limit; determining whether the fan's rotation speed is less than or equal to a first restored rotation speed when the fan's rotation speed is determined to be less than the predetermined upper rotation speed limit; and stopping the limiting of the processor's performance when the fan's rotation speed is determined to be less than or equal to the first restored rotation speed.

Thermally controlled utility pump and methods relating to same

A multi-outlet fluid pump includes a housing, a motorized pump, an electrical power supply, and a self-locking thermal cutoff. In one form, the pump includes a first or primary thermal cutoff and a second or secondary thermal cutoff to prevent the pump from operating once a thermal cutoff has deactivated the pump until a user or operator has taken some affirmative action. Related methods are also disclosed herein. In some forms an indicator is provided to indicate if the thermal cutoff has disabled the pump to alert a user as to the need to unplug or reset the pump before operating the pump again.
