The rotor stop process comprises the steps of prior to receipt of the rotor stop signal, generating a stored pitch angle signal by storing pitch angle signals for at least a fraction of a rotor revolution, and determining at least one periodic component of the stored signal. The rotor blades of the wind turbine are controlled towards a feathering position using a pitch control signal containing the at least one periodic component.
STOPPING A WIND TURBINE ROTOR USING PRE-SET PITCH RATES
The present invention relates to control of a wind turbine in a stop process where a stop controller is used to pitch the blades at a number of pre-set pitch rates including a first pitch rate and a second pitch rate. The stop controller is arranged to access desired pitch angles of the stopping process and add an envelope band to the desired pitch angles. In the stop process, pitching at a selected pitch rate among the number of pre-set pitch rates is performed, and the pitch rate is changed according to criteria to keep the pitch value within the envelope band.
Power ramp rate control
Regulating a power ramp rate of a wind park at a point of common coupling (PCC) between the wind park and a utility grid. The method comprises receiving a power reference for the wind park; determining the power ramp rate of the wind park as a function of the power output of each individual wind turbine in the park, wherein the power ramp rate of the wind park is based on the power ramp rates of the individual wind turbines and determining a corresponding plurality of power set-points for each wind turbine based on the power ramp rates and power reference. The corresponding plurality of power set-points is dispatched to the plurality of wind turbines for regulating the power ramp rate of the wind park in dependency of the power ramp rates of the plurality of wind turbines.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A WIND POWER INSTALLATION, WIND POWER INSTALLATION, AND WIND FARM
Provided is a method for controlling a wind power installation, an associated closed-loop controller, an associated installation and a wind farm. The installation has an aerodynamic rotor which is operated at a variable rotating speed and has rotor blades that have adjustable blade angles. The installation in at least one operating range is closed-loop controlled by a closed-loop rotating speed control in which the rotating speed by adjusting a rotor status variable of the rotor blades is closed-loop controlled to a rotating speed target value, referred to as the target rotating speed. The closed-loop rotating speed control for adjusting the rotor status variable includes the use of a reserve value. In the event that the installation is not yet operating at a target output or a target moment, the reserve is obtained from a comparison of the target output or target moment and a momentary output or a momentary moment.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SCHEDULING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ACTIONS BASED ON OPERATIONAL USAGE
A method for operating and maintaining a wind farm comprising a plurality of wind turbines includes determining an odometer for one or more components of at least one of the pluralities of wind turbines in the wind farm, the odometer representing operational usage of the component(s). The method also includes tracking the operational usage for the component(s) using the odometer and a usage threshold. Further, the method includes predicting an expected time frame for one or more preventative maintenance actions based on a comparison of the tracked operational usage and the usage threshold. Moreover, the method includes triggering scheduling of the one or more preventative maintenance actions when the prediction indicates that the tracked operational usage will exceed the usage threshold. In addition, the method includes shutting down the wind turbine or idling the wind turbine once the one or more preventative maintenance actions are scheduled.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SLIP DETECTION AND SURFACE HEALTH MONITORING IN A SLIP COUPLING OF A ROTARY SHAFT
A method for operating a generator of a wind turbine includes generating, via a controller, a time series of a plurality of operating signals of the generator. The method also includes applying at least one algorithm to the time series of the plurality of operating signals of the generator to generate a processed time series of the of the plurality of operating signals of the generator. Moreover, the method includes identifying, via the controller, patterns in the processed time series of the plurality of operating signals of the generator to identify one or more of at least one slip event occurring in the slip coupling or a surface health of the slip coupling.
