Metallic insert with smooth contours for use with composite working members

A rotary working component for use in a pump, compressor, blower or the like having an impeller, rotor, fan blade or other similar component includes a metallic insert and a composite structure overmolded on the metallic insert. The metallic insert can include an aperture adapted to mount the rotary working component to a drive shaft and a fluted catenoid or truncated spherical or spheroid outer surface having smooth contours between fluted regions thereof.

A reciprocating pump includes a casing defining a pumping chamber, a plunger configured to reciprocate in an axial direction within the pumping chamber along a plunger axis, and an annular header ring positioned between the plunger and the casing. The annular header ring is formed solely of a fabric-reinforced rubber.

Stators for downhole motors, methods for fabricating the same, and downhole motors incorporating the same

The present invention recites a method of fabricating a stator for a downhole motor, the method comprising the steps of providing a stator tube having an interior surface and applying a bonding agent to the interior surface of the stator tube. Additionally, a mandrel is positioned within the stator tube, the mandrel having an outer geometry that is complimentary to a desired inner geometry for the stator. Furthermore, a reinforcing material is introduced into the stator tube to fill space between the mandrel and the interior surface of the stator tube and subsequently solidified to bond the reinforcing material to the interior surface of the stator tube. The mandrel is then removed from the bonded stator tube and reinforcing material such that a stator is fabricated.

Anti-wear coatings for scroll compressor wear surfaces

Anti-wear surface coatings and methods for making them are provided. Such anti-wear surface coatings are particularly suitable for use in a compressor, such as a scroll compressor. A precursor powder material can be applied via spraying to a wear surface of a metal component of the scroll compressor. The precursor powder material comprises a powderized thermoplastic polymer (e.g., PEEK), a first lubricant particle (e.g., molybdenum disulfide (MoS.sub.2)) and a second lubricant particle (e.g., polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)). Then the applied precursor powder material is heated to form a substantially uniform coating covering the underlying metal component. The substantially uniform coating may have a thickness of less than or equal to about 0.005 inches (about 127 m).

Modular structural composite beam

A modular fiber reinforced plastic flange for a structural composite beam which comprises a body formed of a plurality of elongate elements arranged in an array, wherein the dimensions of the body are substantially determined by the number and arrangement of the elongate elements in the array, and a skin member at least partially surrounding the array. Also, a structural composite beam comprising the modular fiber reinforced plastic flange and a shear web connected to the skin member of the modular flange. A method of making the modular flange and beams, and a kit of parts for making the modular flange are also disclosed.
