A hybrid three-layer system is presented. The hybrid three-layer system includes a two-layer composite system and an additively manufactured third layer comprising a lattice structure. The composite layer system includes a metallic substrate, a structured surface, and a thermal protection system. The structured surface may be additively manufactured onto the metallic substrate and includes structured surface features formed to project above the metallic substrate. Each of the structured surface features are separated from adjacent structured surface features by grooves. The thermal protection coating may be thermally sprayed onto the structured surface and is bonded to each of the structured surface features. The lattice structure is in contact with a surface of the metallic substrate of the composite layer system.
CORRUGATED STIFFENING DEVICES UTILIZING PEAKS AND VALLEYS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
A method may comprise: laying up a first plurality of plies of material comprising thermoplastic resin and fiber to form an inner skin preform, the inner skin preform being a continuous sheet including alternating peaks and valleys; laying up a second plurality of plies of material comprising thermoplastic resin and fiber to form an outer skin preform; and joining the inner skin preform to the outer skin preform.
POROUS SKIN COMPRISING A PLURALITY OF STRIPS AND AN ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION PANEL COMPRISING SUCH A POROUS SKIN
A porous skin including strips and an acoustic attenuation panel. The porous skin (1) includes of strips (2) arranged transversely to a fluid flow (E) and which successively overlap each other laterally, each strip (2) upstream of said fluid flow (E) overlapping the downstream strip or strips (2), each of the strips (2) including at least one lateral edge comprising a contour defining a line with deviations, namely a broken line and/or a curved line, and the arrangement of the strips (2) and the contour or contours of their lateral edges being configured to form openings (11) between the strips (2) connecting an external face of the porous skin (1) to an internal face of said porous skin (1) and to prevent the fluid flow (E) from penetrating into said openings (11), the porous skin (1) thus being adapted to have sound waves pass through it while preventing the fluid flow (E) from passing through it.
TURBINE SHROUD WITH ABRADABLE LAYER HAVING DIMPLED FORWARD ZONE
Turbine and compressor casing abradable components for turbine engines include abradable surfaces with a zonal system of forward (zone A) and rear or aft sections (zone B) surface features. The zone A surface profile comprises an array pattern of non-directional depression dimples, or upwardly projecting dimples, or both, in the abradable surface. The dimpled forward zone A surface features reduce surface solidity in a controlled manner, to help increase abradability during blade tip rubbing incidents, yet they provide sufficient material to resist incoming hot working fluid erosion of the abradable surface. In addition, the dimples provide generic forward section aerodynamic profiling to the abradable surface, compatible with different blade airfoil-camber profiles. The aft zone B surface features comprise an array pattern of ridges and grooves.
Angular sector for turbomachine blading with improved sealing
An angular sector of a fixed blade ring of a turbomachine, in particular a stator or a guide vane assembly, includes, relative to the axis of said fixed blade ring, a radially outer platform, a radially inner platform, at least two blades extending between said platforms, and at least one block of abradable honeycomb material extending on the inside of the inner platform between transverse ends of the sector. The block of abradable material includes at least one transverse end wall shaped according to a toothed profile having at least one radially oriented tooth extending across an entire radial thickness of said block.
COMPOSITE LAYER SYSTEM HAVING AN ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED SUBSTRATE AND A CERAMIC THERMAL PROTECTION SYSTEM
A composite layer system is presented.
PARTITION DAMPER SEAL CONFIGURATIONS FOR SEGMENTED INTERNAL COOLING HARDWARE
Partition damper seal configurations for segmented internal cooling hardware apparatus are disclosed. An example apparatus includes an inner wall and an outer wall, the outer wall spaced apart from the inner wall in a radial direction, a space between the inner and outer walls defining a flow passage, and a body positioned between the inner and outer walls, the body traversing the inner and outer walls in an axial direction and attached to an inner surface of the outer wall and an outer surface of the inner wall, the body to detach from the inner and outer surfaces and to at least partially seal the flow passage in response to the outer wall moving relative to the inner wall.
Airfoil with radially-spaced ribs and interlocking tab
An airfoil incudes an airfoil section that defines an internal cavity. The airfoil section is formed of a fiber-reinforced composite that is comprised of fiber plies. The fiber plies include core fiber plies and an overwrap fiber ply that wraps around the core fiber plies. The core fiber plies are arranged as first and second tubes. each of the first and second tubes defines a plurality of windows therein. The windows of the first tube align with the windows of the second tube so as to form radially-spaced ribs that extend across the internal cavity. At least one of the first or second tubes has at least one tab that is radially between the radially-spaced ribs. The at least one tab interlocks the first and second tubes.
Turbine blade tip shroud surface profiles
A tip shroud includes a pair of opposed, axially extending wings configured to couple to an airfoil at a radially outer end thereof. The tip shroud also includes a tip rail extending radially from the pair of opposed, axially extending wings. Tip shroud surface profiles may be of the downstream and/or upstream side of the tip rail, a leading Z-notch of the tip shroud, and/or a downstream radially inner surface of a wing. The surface profiles may have a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least part of Cartesian coordinate values of X and Y, and perhaps Z and a thickness, set forth in a respective table. The radially inner surface of the wing may define a protrusion extending along the radially outer end of the airfoil, the suction side fillet, and a radial inner surface of the wing to an axial edge of the wing.
