A cooling system includes: a high pressure bleed line configured to bleed high pressure compressed air from a first bleed position of a compressor and to send the air to a first hot part; a low pressure bleed line configured to bleed low pressure compressed air from a second bleed position of the compressor and to send the air to a second hot part; an orifice provided in the low pressure bleed line; a connecting line configured to connect the high pressure bleed line and the low pressure bleed line; a first valve provided in the connecting line; a bypass line configured to connect the connecting line and the low pressure bleed line; and a second valve provided in the bypass line.
DUAL CYCLE INTERCOOLED ENGINE ARCHITECTURES
A gas turbine engine includes a primary gas path having, in fluid series communication: a primary air inlet, a compressor fluidly connected to the primary air inlet, a combustor fluidly connected to an outlet of the compressor, and a turbine fluidly connected to an outlet of the combustor. The turbine is operatively connected to the compressor to drive the compressor. A turbine cooling air conduit extends from an air inlet of the turbine cooling air conduit to an air outlet of the turbine cooling air conduit.
Combined energy storage turbine and simple cycle peaker system
In an embodiment, a gas turbine system is provided. The gas turbine system may include a supplementary air system and a flow diffuser configured to receive compressed air from the supplementary air system. The gas turbine system further comprises a gas turbine compressor downstream the flow diffuser, a combustor downstream the gas turbine compressor, a turbine downstream the combustor, and a turbine haft. The turbine shaft comprises a thrust bearing and a clutch. When the gas turbine system is operating, the gas turbine compressor does not consume electricity.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE WITH ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN COMPRESSOR
A gas turbine engine includes a turbine section located at an engine central longitudinal axis, a combustor configured to drive rotation of the turbine with combustion products, and a compressor section coupled to the turbine section at the engine central longitudinal axis and driven by the turbine section. An auxiliary compressor is located fluidly between the compressor section and the combustor such that an airflow exiting the compressor section is directed toward the auxiliary compressor. The auxiliary compressor is driven independently from the compressor section and is configured to output the airflow toward the combustor.
Electro-pneumatic environmental control system air circuit
An engine driven environmental control system (ECS) air circuit includes a gas turbine engine having a compressor section. The compressor section includes a plurality of compressor bleeds. A selection valve selectively connects each of said bleeds to an input of an intercooler. A second valve is configured to selectively connect an output of said intercooler to at least one auxiliary compressor. The output of each of the at least one auxiliary compressors is connected to an ECS air input.
Cooling device
A cooling device includes a cooler disposed inside a shell main body formed in a cylindrical shape, and having a first surface facing an inlet nozzle and an outlet nozzle, and a partition member fixed to the first surface, and partitioning a portion between the cooler and an inner peripheral surface of the shell main body into a first space communicating with the inlet nozzle and a second space communicating with the outlet nozzle. The partition member includes a main partition plate disposed between the inlet nozzle and the outlet nozzle in an axial direction, a first guide portion extending from an end portion of the main partition plate toward a first end surface of the shell main body, and a second guide portion extending from an end portion of the main partition plate toward a second end surface of the shell main body.
DUAL CYCLE INTERCOOLED HYDROGEN ENGINE ARCHITECTURE
In one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a gas turbine engine. The gas turbine engine includes a primary gas path having, in fluid series communication: an air inlet, a compressor fluidly connected to the air inlet, a combustor fluidly connected to an outlet of the compressor, and a turbine section fluidly connected to an outlet of the combustor section. In embodiments, a hydrogen expansion turbine is in fluid communication to receive hydrogen from the gaseous hydrogen outlet of the heat exchanger. In certain embodiments, the gas turbine engine includes a heat exchanger having a gas conduit fluidly connected to the primary gas path, and a fluid conduit in fluid isolation from the gas conduit and in thermal communication with the gas conduit.
Intercooled cooling air with auxiliary compressor control
A gas turbine engine includes a main compressor section with a downstream most location. A turbine section has a high pressure turbine. A tap line is connected to tap air from a location upstream of the downstream most location in the main compressor section. The tapped air is connected to a heat exchanger and then to a cooling compressor. The cooling compressor compresses air downstream of the heat exchanger, and is connected to deliver air into the high pressure turbine. A bypass valve is positioned downstream of the main compressor section, and upstream of the heat exchanger. The bypass valve selectively delivers air directly to the cooling compressor without passing through the heat exchanger under certain conditions.
Auxiliary power unit with intercooler
An auxiliary power unit for an aircraft, having a compressor, an intercooler including first conduit(s) having an inlet in fluid communication with the compressor outlet and second conduit(s) configured for circulation of a coolant therethrough, an engine core having an inlet in fluid communication with an outlet of the first conduit(s), and a bleed conduit in fluid communication with the outlet of the first conduit(s) through a bleed air valve. The auxiliary power unit may include a generator in driving engagement with the shaft of the engine core to provide electrical power for the aircraft. A method of providing compressed air and electrical power to an aircraft is also discussed.
