Airfoil having environmental barrier topcoats that vary in composition by location
An airfoil includes an airfoil wall that defines a leading end, a trailing end, and suction and pressure sides that join the leading end and the trailing end. The airfoil wall is formed of a silicon-containing ceramic. A first environmental barrier topcoat is disposed on the suction side of the airfoil wall, and a second, different environmental barrier topcoat is disposed on the pressure side of the airfoil wall. The first topcoat is vaporization-resistant and the second topcoat is resistant to calcium-magnesium-aluminosilicate.
BEARING ELEMENT AND TURBOMACHINE WITH A BEARING ELEMENT
A bearing element for at least one adjustable guide vane of a turbomachine, in particular an aircraft engine, is provided. The bearing element comprising a porous matrix made of carbon and/or graphite and at least one metallic phase or a metal salt that is at least partially arranged inside the pores of the matrix, so that what results is a metal-infiltrated or a metal-salt-infiltrated material.
COMPRESSOR VANE OR BLADE FOR ENGINE
When a compressor vane or blade for an engine is used in an environment containing abundant foreign substances, deposits originated from the foreign substances are likely to deposit on surfaces of the vane or blade. The compressor vane or blade according to the present disclosure has a base body of the compressor vane or blade; and a coating covering the base body, which consists essentially of one or more selected from the group of molybdenum disulfide and tungsten disulfide.
Gas turbine engine and method of assembling the same
A method and system for a turbofan gas turbine engine system is provided. The gas turbine engine system includes a variable pitch fan (VPF) assembly coupled to a first rotatable shaft and a low pressure compressor LPC coupled to a second rotatable shaft. The LPC including a plurality of variable pitch stator vanes interdigitated with rows of blades of a rotor of the LPC. The gas turbine engine system also includes a speed reduction device coupled to said first rotatable shaft and said second rotatable shaft. The gas turbine engine system further includes a modulating pressure relief valve positioned between an outlet of said LPC and a bypass duct and a controller configured to schedule a position of said plurality of variable pitch stator vanes and said modulating pressure relief valve in response to an operational state of said turbofan gas turbine engine system and a temperature associated with said LPC.
Gas turbine engine component with copper oxide coating
A formation method is provided. During this formation method, a metallic substrate is provided. A coating is deposited onto the metallic substrate using a suspension plasma spray process. The coating is formed from or otherwise includes copper oxide.
Assembly of an engine with an aircraft pylon
An assembly of an engine with a pylon, including a force reacting assembly having a connection device and two rods, the connection device including a shoe. A spreader extends between first and second ends and has a central part connected to the shoe by a main connection including a main rotation pin and axis in a plane of symmetry of the connection device. Two fittings are on either side of the plane of symmetry each having two arms between which the spreader is positioned. A first, respectively second, rod includes a front end fastened to the engine and a rear end fastened to the first, respectively second, end of the spreader and to the first, respectively second, fitting by a secondary connection. Two extensions of the spreader are each associated with a pair of elastic stops. For the first, respectively second, end of the spreader, each stop is between an arm of the first, respectively second, fitting and the extension.
Turbine shroud segment with flange-facing perimeter seal
A turbine shroud adapted for use in a gas turbine engine includes a plurality of metallic carrier segments and a plurality of blade track segments mounted to corresponding metallic carrier segments. Cooling air is directed onto the blade track segments to cool the blade track segments when exposed to high temperatures in a gas turbine engine.

CONSUMABLE COATINGS AND METHODS OF PROTECTING A HIGH TEMPERATURE COMPONENT FROM DUST DEPOSITS
A coated component may have a consumable coating that protects the component from dust. A coated component may include a silicon containing substrate defining a substrate surface, a barrier coating on the substrate surface, with the barrier coating defining a barrier surface, and a consumable coating on the barrier surface. The consumable coating may include a ceramic oxide that includes a silicate. A component, such as a component of a turbomachine, may be protected from dust by applying a consumable coating on the component.
