A component is provided for a turbine engine. The component can include an airfoil defining a surface, and an energy absorbing composite positioned on the surface of the airfoil or within the airfoil. The energy absorbing composite includes a shear thickening fluid distributed through a matrix.

AIRFOIL ASSEMBLY WITH FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE RINGS AND TOOTHED EXIT SLOT
20230020644 · 2023-01-19 ·

An airfoil assembly includes first and second fiber-reinforced composite airfoil rings that each have inner and outer platform sections, a suction side wall extending between the inner and outer platforms, a pressure side wall extending between the inner and outer platforms, and suction and pressure side mate faces along, respectively, edges of the suction and pressure side walls. The suction side mate face of the first fiber-reinforced composite airfoil ring and the pressure side mate face of the second fiber-reinforced composite airfoil ring mate at an interface to form an airfoil that circumscribes an internal cavity. A least one of the suction or pressure side mate faces includes protrusions along a trailing edge of the airfoil. The protrusions define a toothed exit slot for emitting cooling air from the internal cavity.

Turbofan comprising a system comprising a screen for closing off the bypass duct

A turbofan has a nacelle delimiting a duct for a bypass flow and comprises a fixed structure comprising a guide vane support with guide vanes, a mobile cowl able to move in translation between an advanced position and a retracted position, arms, each one being mobile in rotation between a stowed position and a deployed position and comprising a distal end and a proximal end, a flexible screen, of which an exterior edge is attached to the guide vane support rearward of the guide vanes, and wherein the distal end of each arm is fixed along the interior edge, actuators to cause the mobile cowl to move, and an operating system which moves each arm. Replacing the reversal doors and their drive mechanisms with the flexible screen and the set of rotationally-mobile arms allows a reduction in weight.

Seal element for sealing a joint between a rotor blade and a rotor disk

A rotor assembly is provided for a piece of rotational equipment. This rotor assembly includes a rotor disk, a rotor blade and a seal element. The rotor disk is configured to rotate about a rotational axis. The rotor blade includes an airfoil, a platform and a mount attaching the rotor blade to the rotor disk. The seal element is seated in a groove of the rotor disk. The seal element is configured to sealingly engage the platform and the mount.

Removal of contaminants from air for use in aircraft engines

A secondary air system for an aircraft engine comprises an air flow path communicating between a source of pressurized cooling air and an air consuming component. A filter is disposed in the air flow path upstream from the air consuming component. The filter has at least one of: openings of a size selected for capturing suspended particles; and a filter surface material for binding with chemical contaminants.

DOOR FOR THRUST REVERSER OF AN AIRCRAFT PROPULSION ASSEMBLY, COMPRISING A FLEXIBLE BAFFLE
20220316426 · 2022-10-06 · ·

A door for a thrust reverser of a propulsion assembly, the door being provided with a flexible baffle. The baffle is configured to change state by moving from a folded position to an unfolded position, and vice versa, depending on the configuration of the reverser. When the reverser is in reverse jet configuration, the door is open and the baffle is in an unfolded position in order to direct a flow of gas upstream of the propulsion assembly, thus generating a counter-thrust. When the reverser is in direct jet configuration, the door is closed and the baffle is in a folded position so as to cancel or minimise interference caused by the baffle in the flow of gas passing through the propulsion assembly and thus generating a thrust.
