The sleeve is configured to receive the core pin. The fastener is configured to secure a plurality of workpieces to one another. The deformable portion is configured deflect in response to compression of the deformable portion by the head of the core pin, to form a flared connection that engages a surface of one of the plurality of workpieces.

A blind pull type fastener includes a pin, a sleeve, a collar, and a bulb-forming portion. The pin includes a head. The pin is pulled so that the head applies force to the bulb-forming portion. The bulb-forming portion is deformed to form a bulb. The collar is deformed into a void of the sleeve. The pin includes locking rings. The collar is deformed to lock with the locking rings.

A family of rivets including both blind and bucked-type rivets made at least partially from an amorphous metal alloy. A blind rivet includes a head portion and a tail portion. At least one of the head portion and the tail portion is configured to elastically deform to secure a first member in position relative to a second member. The head portion and the tail portion may include one or more deformable legs having an interface feature configured to engage with one of the first member and the second member. A bucked-type rivet assembly includes a formable member and an anvil. The anvil is configured to thermoplastically deform the formable member proximate to the second member by passing current through an electrical circuit that includes at least one of the formable member and anvil.

The fastener includes a bolt, a nut, a sleeve, and a drive nut. The drive nut interfaces with the nut. The bolt is disposed through the nut, sleeve, and drive nut. The bolt comprises one or more threaded portions and a non-threaded portion. The fastener breaks-off at the non-threaded portion during installation. The installed fastener comprises a recess-free, flush surface with a workpiece.

The nut includes a sleeve, nut head, and handling member. A central bore of the sleeve receives the shaft and defines internal threads mated with the external threads. The nut head is between the handling member and sleeve. The nut head extends radially from the sleeve and defines a recess that receives the bolt head. The handling member surrounds a portion of the lug. The handling member includes a second frangible portion and a second tool engagement portion. The second frangible portion couples the second tool engagement portion to the nut head.

Tacking fastener

A blind tacking rivet includes a stem and a sleeve. The stem includes a body and a stem head. The stem head is removable from the body. The stem head deforms a portion of the sleeve during removal of the stem head. The stem head may be discarded or may be embedded within the sleeve.

Fastening collars, multi-piece fastening systems, and methods of fastening

Fastening collars, multi-piece fastening systems, and methods of fastening are provided. The fastening collar comprises a first end, a second end, and an elongate portion intermediate the first end and the second end and defining a longitudinal axis of the fastening collar. The elongate portion comprises a first region adjacent the first end, a second region intermediate the first region and the second end, and a cavity. The first region comprises a first diameter and is configured to be received by a bore of a structure. The second region comprises a second diameter greater than the first diameter. The cavity extends through the elongate portion and is configured to receive at least a portion of a shank of the multi-piece fastening system. The elongate portion is configured to at least partially deform onto the shank responsive to forcible contact between the second region and an installation tool.
