Threaded fastener
Various embodiments of a fastener driveable into a substrate are provided. The fastener includes a head, a shank, and a helical thread formation. Portions of the shank and helical thread formations may be tapered. The outer diameter of the shank may decrease in a direction away from the head. An outer diameter of the thread formation may increase in a direction away from the head. The head may include a plurality of extending ribs. The helical thread formation may be formed with a plurality of grooves that are respectively each partially defined by a straight cutting edge. These improvements reduce torsional failure of the fastener from over tightening.
DRILL POINT FASTENER
A fastener may include an elongated shank, a head at a distal end of the shank, and a drill point at a terminal end of the shank, which is opposite to the distal end. The fastener may include a primary thread starting at the drill point and extending along the shank towards the head. The fastener may include a secondary thread starting at the drill point, extending along the shank towards the head, and stopping in an axial direction before the primary thread ends. The secondary thread may be radially located 180 degrees from the primary thread. The drill point may include a plurality of radially extending cutting edges and one or more relieved flute portion extending along the surface of the drill point.
Steel stud anchor
A metal anchoring fastener fastens millwork onto walls constructed with wall cladding fastened to steel studs. The load typical of a loaded cabinet is borne by the steel stud anchors owing to the mate between the profile of the steel stud anchor and the layers of millwork and wall cladding and steel stud that said anchor penetrates. The pitch of the thread adorning the profile of the steel stud anchor progresses non-linearly along the length of said shaft, the shaft is generally non-linear in profile, and the thread profile is non-uniform along the length of said shaft. The anchor can also support a secondary screw concentrically penetrating the void at the center of the anchor, in order to hang loads from a wall, with or without millwork. Predrilling of the holes can enable installation of these zinc anchors.
CONCRETE FASTENER
A fastener includes a shank having a first end and a second end defining a length. The fastener includes a thread provided on the shank, the thread including a first region adjacent to the first end and a second region between the first region and a head at the second end, the thread includes a leading edge and a trailing edge, each edge forming an angle with a surface of the shank, the leading edge forming a non-normal angle with the surface of the shank and the trailing edge forming an angle about normal to the surface of the shank. The fastener may include an arcuate detent region in the shank between respective turns of the thread, the detent region having a length, the length decreasing from the first end toward the second end between the respective turns. The fastener may include a plurality of flutes positioned along a length of the shank.
TORQUE REDUCING FLOW DRILLING FASTENER FOR THICK MATERIALS AND METHOD OF USING SUCH FASTENER
A self-penetrating thread forming and flow drilling fastener for thick materials with a generally cylindrical partially threaded shank, a drive system at the first end of the shank and a flow drilling tip at the second end of the shank. The flow drilling tip is sized larger than the minor diameter of the threaded shank but less than the major diameter to control installation torque enabling installation into thick materials with greatly reduced risk of torsional failure resultant from a decrease in torque. The flow drilling tip and threads may be a variety of shapes or thread types based on the substrate material the fastener is installed into.
Self-tapping screw
A self-tapping screw includes a head portion, a lower side thereof configured with a screw rod, a front end thereof configured with a drill tail, a first thread segment formed on a front end of the screw rod above the drill tail, a second thread segment with at least two threads formed on a rear end of the screw rod immediately below the head portion, a crest angle of any one of the threads of the second screw segment being 1.15 to 1.2 times of a crest angle of any thread of the first thread segment, and a thread root diameter of the second thread segment increasing proportionally with the crest angle of the second thread segment. Whereby, the present invention provides a self-tapping screw capable of tight locking without idling.
Threaded Fastener With Scalloped Minor Diameter
A fastener has a head and a shank extending from the head to a tip. The shank has a threaded distal portion that includes primary threads defining a major diameter, a minor diameter, and at least one helical rib or scalloped surface at the minor diameter. The at least one rib extends between adjacent primary threads of the threaded portion and extends in a helical configuration. The configuration of the fastener with helical ribs in the minor diameter reduces contact surface area between the fastener and building material substrate, like wood, during installation of the fastener, which thereby results in less torquing force required for installation.
STRUCTURAL SCREW
A structural screw usable in multiple different substrates/materials includes a head end, a shank and a tapered end, the head end including a tool engaging part, the head end located at a first end of the shank and the tapered end located at a second end of the shank. A thread is formed along the shank, wherein the thread begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates at a first axial location along the shank that is spaced from the head end. The thread (i) is a multiple start thread formed by at least a first helical thread and a second helical thread and/or (ii) includes a thread angle of between fifteen degrees and thirty degrees. The screw may also include a reaming section with leading and trailing wedge sections and/or an asymmetric notch pattern along at least part of the thread edge.
Faceted lobular threads
A faceted lobular threaded component and methods for making and/or installing the same. A faceted lobular threaded component may include a head, and a shank extending along a longitudinal axis away from the head. The component may also include an external faceted lobular thread in the shank extending around the longitudinal axis. The external faceted lobular thread may include at least four facets per thread revolution, and at least four lobes per thread revolution circumferentially interspersed between the at least four facets and established by the at least four facets.

A non-invasive roof mounting adapter plate and method for installing same. In one embodiment, a mounting adapter for attaching an object to a generally flat surface includes an anchor plate having an upper surface and a lower surface, and one or more first apertures extending through the upper and lower surfaces, each first aperture including a counter-bore configured to receive a corresponding first elongated fasteners, each elongated fastener having a length sufficient to extend through and securely fasten the anchor plate to a support structure below the generally flat surface; and a second fastener extending normal from the upper surface of the anchor plate and configured to secure the object to the mounting adapter, wherein load forces from the object are directly transferred from the anchor plate to a support structure below the generally flat surface via the first elongated fasteners.
