POWER TRANSFORMING APPARATUS AND AIR CONDITIONER INCLUDING THE SAME
A power transforming apparatus for supplying power to a motor having a magnetic bearing includes: a converter configured to, in an initial operation, receive AC power, and an auxiliary circuit performing initial charging by rectifying the AC power to a second power and supplying the rectified second power to an inverter controller and a magnetic bearing controller. The inverter controller outputs a signal to an inverter using the second power and controls the inverter to supply a rectified DC voltage to the converter, and the converter is configured to, during a normal operation, stop supplying the second power to the inverter controller and control the rectified DC voltage to be supplied to the inverter controller and the magnetic bearing controller, and, based on a power failure being detected, outputs a control signal such that the second power is supplied to the inverter controller and the magnetic bearing controller.
Self-centering auxiliary bearings in a magnetic bearing cartridge
A self-centering bearing assembly is provided. The bearing assembly includes a magnetic bearing device configured to support a rotating shaft and a magnetic bearing support housing. The magnetic bearing housing has a disc-like shape and multiple tabs extending from an outer diameter portion in an axial direction. The bearing assembly further includes an auxiliary bearing device configured to support the rotating shaft during an auxiliary bearing condition, and an auxiliary bearing support housing. The auxiliary bearing support housing has a disc-like shape with a first diameter portion and a second diameter portion. The first diameter portion has a larger diameter than the second diameter portion. The tabs are configured to couple to the second diameter portion such that the auxiliary bearing support housing is concentric to the magnetic bearing support housing.
A MAGNETIC ACTUATOR FOR A MAGNETIC SUSPENSION SYSTEM
A magnetic actuator for a magnetic suspension system includes a core section having an annular yoke and radially directed teeth joining the yoke. The magnetic actuator includes coils surrounding the teeth and a mechanical structure having a first section and a second section. The first section is attached to the yoke and conducts magnetic flux axially. The second section joins the first section and conducts the magnetic flux radially in a direction opposite to a direction of the magnetic flux in the teeth. The magnetic actuator includes a mechanical safety bearing that is between the second section and the teeth. Thus, the safety bearing is in a room surrounded by a magnetic flux circulation path. Therefore, the safety bearing does not increase an axial length of the magnetic suspension system.
