Two-piece composite tapered roller bearing outer ring with interference fit
An outer ring (26) for a bearing assembly includes an annular backing member (54) having a body, and an annular race member (50). The body has a first portion defining a radial inner surface (98) and a radial outer surface, and a second portion defining an axially-facing base surface (110) and a radially-facing end surface (118). The annular race member has a radial outer face (58) and a radial inner face, and a first axial end face and a second axial end face (70) that both extend between the radial outer face and the radial inner face. The annular backing member is in press-fit engagement with the annular race member such that the radial outer face of the annular race member engages the radial inner surface of the annular backing member and the second axial end face of the annular race member engages the axially-facing base surface of the annular backing member such that the members are unitized.

Bearing element having polymeric coating and method of application of polymeric coating to bearing element for electrical insulation
A method of providing electrical insulation for at least one portion of a bearing element is disclosed herein. The method includes electrostatically spraying a polymer coating to the at least one portion of the bearing element, and the polymer coating comprises a thermoset epoxy coating or a self-adhering nylon powder coating. The bearing element can be grounded during the electrostatic spraying. The method includes heating the polymer coating in an oven at a temperature less than or equal to 220° C. for a predetermined time, such that after removal from the oven, the polymer coating has a porosity of less than 10%. The coated bearing element has a resistance of at least 50 MΩ resistance under dry conditions and 10 MΩ resistance under wet conditions.

METHOD OF INDUCTION-HARDENING A ROLLING-ELEMENT BEARING RING
A method of induction hardening a bearing ring includes positioning first and second inductors at a start zone on the bearing ring and a preheat inductor in an end zone on the bearing ring spaced one hundred eighty degrees from the start zone. A first traversing element moves the first inductor circumferentially from the start zone toward the end zone along a first half of the bearing ring circumference while the first inductor heats the bearing ring, and a second traversing element moves the second inductor circumferentially from the start zone toward the end zone along a second half of the bearing ring circumference while the second inductor heats the bearing ring. A third traversing element moves the preheat inductor circumferentially within the end zone so as to traverse a portion of each half of the bearing ring circumference while the preheat inductor heats the end zone.

Method of forming raceway element including contoured joint edge
A bearing raceway element configured as an inner ring or as an outer ring, or configured to be attachable to an element serving as an inner ring or as an outer ring for the bearing or to an inner ring or an outer ring of the bearing. The raceway element is manufactured from a sheet metal panel and includes at least one first joint edge and at least one second joint edge directed in the circumferential direction that are configured to be connected to each other in order to form an annular raceway element. The at least one first joint edge is at least partially configured as a first alignment element and/or includes the first alignment element. Also a bearing including the raceway element and an associated method.
