Bearing unit with optimized sealing system

A bearing unit having a radially outer ring provided with at least one raceway, a radially inner ring provided with at least one raceway, at least one row of rolling elements interposed between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring, at least one containment cage for keeping the rolling elements of the rolling element row in position, and a seal interposed between the radially inner ring and the radially outer ring. An anchoring element mechanically locks the seal in a first seat of the radially inner ring, and the anchoring element is housed in a second seat of the radially outer ring.

An outer annular case is coupleable with a hub bore and has a radial portion extending radially inwardly from the bore. An annular elastomeric seal member has a base portion disposed on the outer case and at least one flexible axial seal lip with a first end integrally formed with the base portion and a second, free end sealingly engageable with the radial portion of the inner case. The lip extends generally axially and radially outwardly from the first end to the second end such that the lip is biased radially outwardly by centrifugal force during rotation of the hub to reduce sealing pressure of the lip second end on the inner case radial portion.

Disclosed herein is a threaded bottom bracket comprising: an internal sleeve, a ball bearing, wherein an inner race of the ball bearing is an extended inner race, a cup fit to concentrically hold the ball bearing, wherein the cup is coupled to the internal sleeve, a labyrinth, the labyrinth coupled to the ball bearing and fit to prevent water and debris from entering the ball bearing, wherein the labyrinth and the cup form a path, and a rotary seal disposed between the ball bearing and the labyrinth, the rotary seal having an external seal that seals against the extended inner race.
