Compliant journal bearing shaft assembly

A carrier assembly has a pair of axially spaced-apart plates defining an axial gap therebetween. The plates have a plurality of planetary bores on a plurality of planetary axes. A plurality of planetary gear mount assemblies are disposed on the planetary axes and mounted within the planetary bores of the gear carrier. Each assembly comprises a journal bearing shaft having a pair of compliance grooves extending axially from opposed axial ends of the shaft. An inner cylindrical surface of each compliance groove defines a shaft mounting surface. A pair of collars is provided to assemble each journal bearing shaft to the carrier. Each collar has a mounting socket mating the shaft mounting surface and an external collar surface matching the planetary bore diameter.

BEARING SHOE FOR SUPPORTING A ROTOR JOURNAL IN A TURBINE ENGINE

A rotor journal support system (10) configured to allow for a bearing shoe (16) to properly align to the rotor (14) while keeping the bearing shoe (16) constrained during handling, installation, and operation limit is disclosed. The rotor journal support system (10) may be configured to enable limited movement of a bearing shoe (16) such that when the rotor journal (14) is installed, the bearing shoe (16) is properly aligned with the rotor journal (14), thereby requiring less torque to turn the rotor journal (14) from a stop than when the bearing shoe (16) is misaligned. The rotor journal support system (10) may include bearing shoe supports (88) extending radially outward from the bearing shoe (16). The bearing shoe support (88) may include an outer bearing surface (100) having at least a partial spherical shape configured to bear against the aligning ring (24). In this position, the bearing shoe support (88) enables the bearing shoe (16) to be moved in any direction other than circumferentially and radially outward.

METHOD FOR EXTENDING THE CAMPAIGN LIFE OF STABILIZERS FOR A COATING LINE

A steel processing line includes a dip tub and a stab roll. The dip tub is filled with a quantity of molten metal. At least a portion of the stab roll is submerged in the quantity of molten metal. The stab roll includes two journals. Each journal is received by an opening defined by a roller sleeve including a ceramic or refractory material. The roller sleeve is disposed between each journal and a bearing block. An inner dimension of each roller sleeve and an outer dimension of each respective journal defines a clearance. The inner dimension of each roller sleeve and the outer dimension of each respective journal is configured such that the clearance persists as the stab roll and the pair of roller sleeves are heated by the molten metal. Alternatively, inserts are fastened to an outer surface of each journal in lieu of the roller sleeves.

Radially adjustable radial PDC bearings and related methods

Bearing assemblies and methods of using bearings are provided in the present disclosure. In one embodiment, a bearing ring is provided having a plurality of carrier components removably coupled therewith. Each carrier component may carry one or more bearing elements. Upon wearing of the bearing elements beyond a desired amount, the carrier components may be removed from the bearing ring and installed in a different bearing ring to place the mearing elements at their original bearing surface radius. In another embodiment, individual bearing elements may be radially adjustable relative to the bearing ring to define and redefine the radius of a radial bearing surface.

An apparatus and method for assembling a split sleeve onto a shaft. The split sleeve apparatus provides a first and second arcuate portion with each having a partial cylindrical configuration. The first and second arcuate portions have at least one finger extending circumferentially outward from their opposing ends. The at least one finger from each of the first and second arcuate portions complementarily engage one another to form a continuous cylinder. At least one aperture extends longitudinally through the at least one finger of the first and second arcuate portions. A dowel rod extends through the at least one aperture for connecting the first and second arcuate portions to form the cylinder. The first and second arcuate portions are fabricated from a material having heat expansion characteristics that allow the material to expand when heated during assembly and to contract when cooled creating an interference fit with the shaft.

Guide Device And Mechanical System Comprising Such A Device

A guide device includes: a metal component provided with a friction surface intended to receive a mating part in sliding frictional contact; and a detection sensing system of a wear of the friction surface or of a clearance between the friction surface and the mating part. The detection system includes one or more sensors; and a wireless communication system is connected to the detection system and configured to transmit information relating to wear or clearance out of the guide device.

Bearing and steering mechanism

To reduce the effect of a steering operation on feeling. A rack bush comprises: a bush body that is accommodated in a cylindrical housing, supports a load exerted on a rack bar while allowing the rack bar to move in the direction of an axial center O, and can be extended and retracted in a radial direction; and an elastic ring mounted on the bush body. The bush body has a mounting groove for mounting the elastic ring, the mounting groove being formed peripherally in an outer peripheral surface, and the mounting groove having a large-diameter part where the circumferential radius of a groove bottom is a first radius r1, and a small-diameter part where said radius is a second radius r2 that is less than the first radius r1. This configuration allows the formation of an elastic ring protruding part, in which the elastic ring protrudes greatly from the outer peripheral surface of the bush body, and an elastic ring embedded part, in which the elastic ring is embedded in the outer peripheral surface of the bush body.
